This is Kirby's agent attempt at getting him more money. He isn't going to come to LSU just like Miles wasn't going to go to Arky when they came calling.

why the hell would smart be interested in coming to lsu? he might be interested in getting a raise at Alabama, just like shoops got one at penn state.

The reason he is interested in the job is allegedly he feels like he won't get any credit as long as he is on Saban's staff,and he needs to branch out on his own. He got almost no interest in any openings this year, and Miles would let him run the defense at LSU. He allegedly feels like McIlwain and Muschamp both got increased interest as soon as they left Saban's staff, and that this would be his best route to a head job. That's why he would consider a lateral move.

It's kind of sad coaches are using LSU job offers/considerations as leverage for a raise at their current school.

I agree this is unlikely, but Kirby has stayed with Saban longer than most. When Saban was checking out the Texas job( and he did), even Saban's wife said Kirby could take over. Kirby has stayed with Saban and was the star protege until Lane showed up. Might be some jealously here. Just saying, who is the incumbent at Bama when Saban retires?

Well COME ON DOWN!
If that's his motivation, LSU is the one school where the HC will never get any credit for anything! Anything goes right the credit will be all his for the taking.
