Finishing #4 and #6 is fighthing for #1. If Duke or Kentucky or UCLA finished #4 or #6 this year in basketball, do you think they would be complaining?

in men indoor track:

The Arkansas men were #1 in indoor track for NINETEEN of the last 25 years, that's better than the LSU baseball team. This year, they finished #8, LSU finished #4.

The Southern Cal men have been #1 twice in indoor track, same as LSU. This year, they were tied #53, LSU finished #4.

Tennessee men were #1 in 2002 indoor track, this year they finished tied #38. LSU finished #4

The Wisconsin men were #1 in 2007 indoor track, this year they finished tied #29. LSU finished #4.

in women indoor track:

The Arizona women were #1 each of the last two years. This year they finished #5, LSU finished #6.

The Texas women were #1 in 2006 (and in 1986, 1988, 1990, 1998, 1999). This year they finished #4. LSU finished #6.

The UCLA women were #1 in 2000 and 2001. This year they finished tied #35. LSU finished #6.

Especially be happy we are not:

Southern Cal -- tied #53 men, women not in top 60

Miami -- tied #41 men, women #12

Georgia -- tied #53 men, women not in top 60

Alabama -- tied #41 men, women not in top 60

Auburn -- tied #41 men, tied #41 women

Oklahoma -- tied #16 men, women not in top 60

etc etc etc etc

Keep in mind that both squads are very young and both are bringing in great recruiting classes.

btw, the women won it last year while the men finished second.

very nice post
you made a great point, we cant nor can anyone else finish first and win it all every year

people especially our fans need to understand that, and just be happy that we are for the most part consistently good and compete for the top spot yearly
