No. 6 @LSUfootball is seeking to do something the team has never done before ... beat an AP Top-10-ranked non-conference opponent on the road.
The Tigers are 0-11 all time in such games, but have a chance to end the streak against No. 9 Texas on Saturday
Per ESPN. I'm sure they mean at the opponent because we've won neutral site games many times. I had no idea we've never accomplished this.

Beating #3 Oregon at a neutral site in 2011 doesn't count?
Alabama was ranked #4 when we beat them in Tuscaloosa in 2005. (Never mind.....NON-CONFERENCE)

I would like to see that list of games. I would imagine it's pre-Miles? pre-Saban even?

It must mean non-neutral site games. True road games.

On the road =/= neutral site games. Those are not considered road games.

It's hard to even think of any top 10, non-conference, true road games we even play because they're mostly played in neutral sites now.

West Virginia was close in 2011. They won the Orange Bowl that year.

Pretty meaningless stat. There aren’t many away non conference games

West Virginia I think ended up finishing Top 10 in 2011? Didn't they win their conference?
I think they are talking about "at the time the games were played". I'll find the link because I believe they said all those games were pre-2000.

What about Arizona st. 2005?

well yes because that is how the games are recorded in history...I know many on this board disagrees

They said so in the quote?

In fact, it appears that the last game that would even qualify for inclusion as facing a ranked opponent in a true road game happened in 2005 when LSU beat Arizona State in Tempe. The last game against a top-10 opponent on the road was a loss to No. 10 Notre Dame in 1998.

I don't know what Az St's ranking was but I guess they were not Top 10.

If we didn't play so many lame arse neutral site games we would've done that already
Posted on 9/5/19 at 4:15 pm to BayouCowboy
I think they were #15 or so.

Well obviously others were confused too because "on the road" could imply neutral site (on the road), but they meant at the opponent's house.

Sorry, but it doesn't imply anything, on the road means at the other team, not away from your stadium, if you are confused that's your mistake (ETA sorry i don't mean that to sound so dickish ) a neutral site is just that, neither teams home venue. If they said away from home, then you could imply neutral sites, but on the road means at another team. As other have noted, there really aren't that many true OOC road games against top 10 teams

LSU hasn't played an OOC opponent on the road in the top 10 since 1999.

It's cool it doesn't bother me. Your response was meant to be dickish so don't apologize. Own it.
