I know I'm getting a little ahead of myself, but which running backs do you think will return to the 2009 team? I know it will all depend on this season, but if you had to guess today who will stay and who will go?
Williams
Holliday
Scott
Murphy
Williams
Holliday
Scott
Murphy

All Stay. Why would any of them leave. None of them are going to get the amount of touches worthy of leaving early for the draft.

all stay... who will have the best year?

All 4 actually, If we continue the RB by committee then maybe none of them go for over 600 yards or so. If that happens I don't think any of them will leave. I think the NFL GM's would tell them to go back and have another good season so they have more of a body of work to evaluate.

williams has the best year unless he fumbles a couple of times if he does scott will have the best year

I disagree. I see Keiland Williams leaving. Scouts are already high on him.
I see Scott and Murphy leading our team in 09.

I am confident that all the RB's will come back next year. CS or KW might creep into the 2nd round projections, even though they both have first round talent. Since we have so many RB's cerrying the ball, another year will give the scouts more chances to look at each RB.
Really, the only RB that has a good chance of leaving would be Holiday to pro track.

Miles has been excellent keeping all juniors on this team for the following season. The only junior defection we've had is Russell who was the #1 overall pick.
I doubt any of those guys go pro. None will get the touches to warrant 1st round money.

The only way any of them leave is if they just come out swinging and earn the right to get 20 or so touches a game. That would give them over 250 for the year and with what they average it would put there yardage around 1100+. That would put one of them in the 1st round but other then that I think all of them will suit up in 09.

i do think that at least one of our backs will have the number of touches to put up good enough numbers that he gets the NFL scouts attention.
hester had 225 carries and another 14 catches. if you divi that up evenly three ways between scott, williams and a holiday/murphy combo....well adding last years numbers williams and scott would each top 150 touches...if they get split evenly.
and i'd guess that one of the two will get a few more carries...maybe near the hester range of 225.
i think one of the two will top 1100 yards and have double figure TDs...about what hester did last year.
the second back will be near 800, and holiday and murphy near five each on the ground.
btw, those numbers figure us playing in 14 games :-)

I like the RB by committee approach.
So many options and so little chances of a guy going pro. There is no need to have one feature back.
Plus, we are the team of this decade (2000 - 2010) using this approach (among other reasons). Ain't Broke, so we ain't fixin.
