You sound like a dumbass. You do realize that the state of Louisiana subsidizes the AD's of ULL, ULM, SU, TU, LT, McNSU, NSU, UNO, etc?

Your entire point about bitching about tax dollars makes ZERO sense. With all the subsidizing you're already doing with your tax dollars, why not support LSU?

I'd rather cut them and subsidize LSU but in reality I agree with you in that our tax dollars should not be spent on collegiate athletics. But where has that shrill tone of yours been while the Legislature was paying for every other AD in the state other than LSU's?

Come back when you have some sort've clue about what you're talking about.

Just because others are jumping off cliffs and looking for handouts means we should to? Glad to know that's your opinion, but its not mine.

I could be wrong but I don't think quarterback stats are tied to parking prices.

If you don't see the general correlation, then you've missed the boat.

id like to see LSU ad tap into tax dollars. simply because at least tax dollars would be going to something i enjoy and it gives us just that much more money. Id also like the fact that tulane fans would be paying to help LSU athletics

You're completely missing the point. Your tax dollars already ARE being used to "make it rain" for AD's all across the State. When we play in-state teams, we also cut them fat checks to come and take their arse-beating. Which means not only is the state Legislature pumping dollars in to prop them up (because they would ALL go under without it, make no mistake), but LSU is subsidizing them with YOUR season ticket money, too!

So you're getting "taxed" so to speak both coming and going. Which you have absolutely no real grasp of, judging from your comments.

My point earlier was to point out the massive hole in your argument, and not so much to disagree with your sentiment. In that you never complained when AD's were getting handouts from your tax dollars before, so why would you bellyache if LSU got some? We're not going to of course, but whatevs.

The fact is that LSU's Academic side is completely hemorrhaging cash because the only things that are not Constitutionally protected in the Louisiana State Budget each year are Education & Healthcare Dollars.

It was a masterstroke by a master Politician years back that had nothing really to do with Education & more with future attempts at reducing the state's budget & spending levels. You constitutionally protect EVERYTHING except for the two most politically distasteful & potentially politically suicidal state services: Education & Healthcare, and then dare whomever comes behind you or doesn't believe as you do to cut them.

Which means LSU leaves with the barrel of a gun pointing between its eyes when times are tough from a state-budget standpoint. Which they are right now.

Were we ever to get a real, true handle on our budget in State Government and rework our Constitution to "unprotect" State Government and force them under the same threat of budgetary cuts that LSU & Healthcare worry about, then we'd probably see far more efficiency, real cuts, & the result would be Education could actually breathe a bit because they wouldn't have to bite down on the sh!tty end of the sammich so much come Appropriations time.

As it is, the University's Academic side is scrambling for any spare dollar it can get. Which means the AD is under more pressure than ever to turn a profit (and promptly turn it over to the Academic side of LSU to help them plug the hole in the boat & bail water).

Which means a no-stone-unturned policy in terms of wringing out money from season ticket holders. If you think they give a shite about empty parking spots closer to the Stadium, you're dreaming.

What they're worried about is getting paid for them up front & in certified funds. Not whether you use them.

If you can't grasp the situation for what it is, then you don't understand life in the Big City...

Some of you folks need to get a clue...

I will say that the area between the South Stadium Parking Lots and Walk-Ons is an absolute DISASTER AREA after games. It's shocking and kinda sad/embarrassing.

yup

no reason they can't create a $75/season parking pass to go in that area and not increase other areas. if that area is causing increases in cleanup costs, then charge that area. not a crazy thought

Increasing prices to generate more revenue is all fine and good while we are winning....but let us have 1 more 2008 season and Herbie will have a real problem on his hands.

For those prices, I would like to see them build a laege parking deck around where old Alex Box was and at least pave the hayfield lot...then leave more space available specifically for tailgating, with permanent restroom facilities and legit sidewalks.

Also...I think LSU fans have a legitimate gripe with state tax dollars being moved away from LSU's academics while some athletic programs at the state are getting funded by the taxpayers....and now parking prices go up.

Pay to play huh? That's your justification. As if fans aren't already paying out the arse now.

Wow those are cowboy stadium prices
A lot of tailgaters never go to the games. Some are not and never have been season ticket holders. The people who buy season tickets year in and year out do deserve some special attention. I do think $50.00 for cars is enough though. As for RV's, if you have a $200K RV the parking is a drop in the bucket.
