Brett Helms will get drafted.

I don't think he will. He's so small (6'2 under 275). He obviously is a player but couple the fact Center seems to be a low value position in the NFL and Helms' size...I don't think he gets drafted. He'll get picked up UDFA though.

behind Miami, LSU has the second longest active streak of putting players in the first round.

Miami has had at least one first rounder drafted for the past 14 years (1995-2008), while LSU has had at least one first rounder drafted for the past 5 years (2004-2008)

I would think, with all the great DL stars that we have... that linebackers would be eager to jump at the chance to play here. With the DL occupying all the offensive linemen, our linebackers should be making every tackle!

We haven't had a very good scheme for linebackers looking to prove themselves. On most plays, LSU has only 2 players truly acting like a traditional LB, and their responsibilities are often widely spread out. It can be frustrating to watch, much less have to actually do.

thats not small at all for a center.

Starting NFL centers around his size:
Mcclure 6'1 285
Gaddis 6'1 295
Kalil 6'2 293
Kreutz 6'2 290
Wiegmann 6'2 285
Raiola 6'1 295
Wells 6'2 295
Saturday 6'2 995
Koppen 6'2 296
Romberg 6'2 295

Helms isn't too small

Helms could get a shot at being drafted if he puts on a little size after the season and does well at the combine and pro day.

On a complete side note, My grandmother told us stories of her dating an LSU football player while she was in school and they split up because he left for work after school. I ask her for years who it was and she finally told me it was Zollie Toth, apparently he got drafted in the 4th round in the forty's and made the pro-bowl in 1950 as a FB/HB. Not that any of you care but I thought it was kinda interesting, if she had followed him to the NFL my life would be completely different if I even existed at all. anyway...
