Football - Kevin Faulk or Patrick Peterson
Basketball - Shaq
Baseball - Todd Walker

Overall - Shaq by a large margin.

I guess it has to be recent cause recruiting didn't blow up til recently but PP7 comes to mind. Jamarcus did at school, so did D Bowe.

On the not side, can we claim Charles Deas?

He was great, but if he was top 3 then Mathieu is top 2. I hate what Mathieu did to LSU, but the numbers and video doesn't lie. He also got the heisman invite as a sophmore PP7 never got. I would say PP7, Jeremy Hill, Jamarcus to an extent, Reuban Randle was good with crappy qb play.

No contest - Pistol Pete

All other answers reveal a real lack of knowledge.

The buzz with Maravich coming was over the top and did he ever exceed it. Shaq #2 and that's saying a lot

PP7, "All Eyes on 3" (or, in some circles, Quick 6) and The Big Aristotle.

Pistol Pete, perhaps, exceeded his hype.

Those would be my 4 candidates.

I don't remember any hype with Walker. I remember going to the Winn Dixie showdown and thinking who is this freshmen.
