You're right. He is a transfer. Still amazing any pitcher is left in that long.

yea, we're due for an off year and this is it. imo, of course. things can get better but our pitching staff sucks eggs tonight.

Wait...wait...wait so a young team has a chance to improve as the season goes on?

If you admit they're young and still trying to adjust the lineup and setup/closer at least give them a couple of weeks to sort it out.

The pitching staff isn't young.

And they created 11 runs last night. Who said they were a problem?

why does everyone think lsu's bullpen is a strength (pretty much everyone who pitched last night is either going to be in the bullpen or possibly a sunday starter)? i dont get it.

what exactly are you basing it on? no one has ever said our bullpen is a strength
I think most were expecting the bullpen to be more consistent now that they're more experienced. When they're on, they're really good. We'll have to see if they come around this year.

your reading comprehension stinks. you put words in my mouth. go back and read what the frick I said. I said this team needs to improve and I never even said they were young. I said fist year starters. some of our players are JUCO transfers and our pitchers are not young at all.

sorry i'm realistic. this team has a chance to be good but, imo, greatness is not likely.

I don't have a huge problem with leaving a new guy in and seeing if he can settle down and work out his issues in a meaningless early midweek game like this. I do still worry about Mainieri's handling of the pen in general, but not really because of this game.

yes, as I have said on every occasion, this team can mature into a good team BUT it is not right now. there are too many first year starters.

This is where you lose me, as a fellow baseball follower for
decades you would be able to grasp that young teams take longer to jell and find a groove *(if they even find one at all)*.

2008...that team had multiple freshman, sophomore, and first year JUCO starters and were left for dead after the 6th SEC week in the year.

If you're going to admit this team young and "not good" at least act like you've been there before.

There's a difference between 3 or 4 runs over 1.2 innings and 7 runs over that span. When you have a bunch of guys you can throw, I think by the 4th run, you've seen enough.

If I had a dollar for every gripe after game 1 and 2...but we're talking about collectively over this extremely young season.

Unfortunately hitting probably is still going to be a weakness. Cincinnati and Lamar midweek pitching aside it's almost certain they're going to struggle.

But you have to give them credit they hit the last two games.

just ignore how we pitched this weekend.

It is one game, but I'm excited to see that we can score runs.

I guess I drank too much; I don't remember seeing him on the mound throwing balls and plunking batters.

Midweek games not exactly the best barometer for a team's pitching strength considering that's when most teams employ the "see what sticks" mentality and try different guys.
