Our Basketball program is back baby We are getting all kinds of national exposure!!

quote:

Sampson is a 6'4 Louisiana native who chose St. John's in January over offers from LSU, USC, UCLA and Cal, among others. He's a long shooting guard known for attacking the rim. Sampson joins a class that already includes No. 1 recruit Ben Simmons and five-star shooting guard Antonio Blakeney.

The best collection of freshmen next season won't be at Duke or Kentucky, it'll be at LSU. The Tigers were primed for a big season even before the addition of Sampson, but the four-star guard likely pushes LSU past Arizona, Duke, Michigan State and anyone else in recruiting rankings. 247 Sports already has declared the Tigers own the top recruiting class.

That pic of JJ is quite humorous. It looks like he's saying, "Gotcha!" to John Calipari.

If we can grab 1 more of Malik or Thon Maker we would be the new Fab 5 with Ben, Blakeney, Sampson, and Victor!

It really is crazy to think about. What would have been the odds on that a couple of years ago?

In the end it will probably be Kentucky at no. 1, but it feels good for now and this class is stacked, regardless of ranking.

The football team is LOADED w talent every year too. Nobody is handing them the NC every year just cause. Gotta go earn it!

But very exciting for sure!

Would be really nice to sign a center or power forward. While Duke had a couple of really good freshman forwards, their front line was very thin and in the end it was the excellent guard play that won it for them.

We need major improvements from Robinson, Epps and Malone plus we need Victor to play well when he becomes eligible in December.

I have a strong feeling we will be seeing lots of 4 guard line ups next year with a very fast pace since 6 of our best 8 players will be guards. If Gray can finally decide that he is a point guard he can be really good, he has all the tools.

If we had JOB or Justin Hamilton in their final year, would that put us at #1 in preseason rankings with best odds in NCAA to win it all?

Hell I think if Mickey stayed, we'd be near the top.

Back to what exactly? Its not like we were Duke or Kentucky, or Florida, or North Carolina, or UCONN, or NC STATE,or well you get my point.

Great Recruiting class, but I will hold my judgement until the results are in the books.

If Mickey would have stayed, LSU would have been a top-10 team to start next year. Him staying would have been more important to NEXT YEAR'S team than getting Newman or Sampson (not that bringing guys like than in hurt in anyway whatsoever)

Had Mickey stayed LSU would have returned everyone of note but Martin who would be replaced by an even better player (Martin was very good, but his skill-set isn't anywhere near as refined as Simmons'). Add to that an additional scorer in Blakeney and more depth inside with Victor, and LSU would have had very few weaknesses. Everyone wants to get on the kid for his final game against NC State, but without Mickey, LSU loses a great rebounder and rim-protector
