LSU makes dc's...not the other way around...

.LSU has been incredible on defense. Muschamp...Pelini...and Chavis...all walked out of B.R. as masterminds. Don't get me wrong.....all good coordinators...but do you ever think that their success may have something to do with the incredible talent LSU lands year inand year oit rather than their "schemes"??? I could probably do a pretty good job with Marcus Spears and Marquise Hill (R.I. P.) As my bookends......just saying...

OK...thanks for the insight. You can't deny that LSU's talent has been amazing. We apparently have been blessed with the most amazing DC hire for the entirety of Miles' tenure. You can't deny that talent hasn't had 99% to do with it. I mean....Maurice Claiborne....HB7...Patrick Peterson....Marcus Spears...Marquise Hill....Jarvis Green....Bradie James...Chad Lavalais....Corey Webster...Booger...Laron Landry...Chad Jones....Drake Nevis...Tyson Jackson...Glenn Dorsey.....etc....all products of "the system"......right????? Face it....LSU D has been loaded with talent. That has SOMETHING to do with the success of our dc's. That's all I'm saying....

Malveto and Tepper disagree. And Pelini and Chavis were considered masterminds before they got to BR.

Gee with this logic who needs coaches? Line up boys hand have fun.

I actually thought Tepper was a good hire at the time. Dude wrote the book on linebacking

Tepper is definitely the turd in the punch bowl. It cannot be denied that the rest were blessed with talent to work with. And maybe the others were considered "masterminds"....but no question that talent had a lot to do with their success.....Ironically, Tepper was considered a "mastermind" based on his LB performance prior to LSU, correct?? Yet, our talent has been mostly on the DL and DB's...yes????

He was the LB guru and I think was a popular hire. I think the talent was mostly at DL back then but my memory is spotty

Not sure why you're getting downvoted, you made a completely valid point. I think a better way to put it would've been that LSU makes average DC's look like superstars though. Anything short of a trainwreck hire should turn out fine considering our abundance of talent.

04 and 05 classes were the worst we've had in 15 years. Thanks saban.
Oh yeah directly responsible for 2008.

yeah he was a 3-4 guy with good LBs and Simeon Rice at DE.

yeah, but Tepper actually walked into a good situation even at the LB spot. he had NFL players at every level . that 98 D had Joe Wesley (played for the Niners a few yrs) and Charles Smith at LB, who were a nice tandem, Booger, Jarvis Green, Arnold Miller, Mark Roman, Clarence Leblanc. it's still crazy to me how bad they were with all that talent.
the way Tepper played his CBs off WRs made the UT version of 3rd and Chavis look like tight man

ummm, that 04 class was pretty stout. like one of the best of the 2000s.

No. 2 class in the country to be exact.

harry Coleman, tyson jackson and marlon favorite were left from that class on d, Ryan Miller herman johnson were the only offensive linemen left from that class.
From 05, alem committed after miles was hired, RJF committed after miles was hired, ciron and beckwith before miles.
rp, lafell and holiday after miles was hired. no one else from that class was any good. 7 players from one class did something.
so that was back when players were still red shirting, those were your upperclassmen.
