First day of competition complete. 4 more full days of competition until Saturday Finals. Here is where we stand.

LSU Lady Tigers currently in 4th place out of 12 SEC schools. Strong opening day performance. Looking good for the LSU women this year.

LSU Men in 10th place out of 10 SEC schools. Plenty of competition to come over the next 4 days, can only get better from here.

That's been mentioned as a possibility. The current facility would be demolished and a volleyball practice facility built in it's place, next to the old tennis center/new sand volleyball courts.

Not finalized though.

So they went with the band-aid approach, eh? Been away for awhile now.

Oh well. Guess volleyball will have to be satisfied with the PMAC basement for practices for the foreseeable future.

quote:

LSU volleyball moved into a new state-of-the-art locker room facility off the southwest corridor starting in 2011. Decorated by numerous graphics showcasing the program’s prominent history, the fully carpeted facility features locker, film, equipment and training rooms.

The auxiliary gym located underground in the north section of the arena was converted to a volleyball only practice facility leading into the 2010 season. Volleyball fans also can see a redesigned concourse with video and graphic displays, renovated concession stands and video kiosks showcasing the best of the sports that play in the building.

With the latest scare tactic by our Gov, I wonder if these minor sports will even survive the coming cuts.

LSU will be fine. The key word is "tactics". That's all there is to that.

A strategic event. Last years SEC Champion Florida Gator Men's Team scored more points in this event than any other event, LSU scored "zero". LSU Men do not look good in this important event this year either. This one is going to hurt us, again.

Yikes. Dead last in men's. Those scholarships could be better used.

Well, LSU has the worst swimming facility in the SEC. Tough to sell recruits that LSU is serious about competing with the current facility.

Same facility used by the LSU Diving Team and they have no problems with recruiting. Our LSU Women's Diving Team are the reigning SEC Champions. Maybe it is not the facility?

Just maybe.

Prelims are in from todays events, can't wait till the finals this evening. Will be watching the LSU Swimming and Diving Tigers Live, for free.

Results and analysis to follow.

After American Idol, of course.

I'm guessing we're not going to argue about whether or not the LSU Natatorium is the worst swimming and diving facility in the conference. Even the briefest and most cursory comparison between our facility and those of our conference brethren would reveal that fact.

The only question is what extent a new facility would help recruiting. I'm thinking a lot.

Btw, that $1.4 million facelift mentioned earlier, seems like most of that was repairs. Mainly resealing the concrete.

Just FYI.

Love to see this we have some great teams but some of our "minor" sports have never won SEC or not won it in 30+ years, believe it or not mens hoops not won sec trny since 1981, swimming and women's tennis (both on rebound) never won sec, cross country never, womens golf and gym team once ever and not in over 20 years, soccer never (but only around 15 or so years), with new tennis courts and new gym (and new gym coach soon!) they have shot, so lots to be optimistic about,

Little known factoid, actually Men's Swimming actually won SEC Championship in the 1980's. 1988, I believe.

The 18.2 the Florida guy did in the 50 free is legendary... out of this world. that's akin to Bolt beating someone by 2 full steps in the 100m which i assume would equate to a 9.2 or 9.3. That guy needs to be checked for PED. At that level to destroy the record by that much and other elite athletes by that much something smells...
