Always positive!

If we can't be excited now, when can we be?

LSU against the world!

Since so many of the players we lost underachieved last year, the players taking there place this year are easily upgrades

Example DE position
This. While the players that we lost to the draft certainly consisted of household names and a lot of starpower, they really mailed it in for much of the year in 2012. I don't know if it was a 2011 hangover or simply being deflated after the bama debacle, but they simply did not come anywhere near the previous year's level. This year, we have young, hungry guys who are sick of hearing about the step back that the D will take and who are ready to make names for themselves. That can certainly spell DOOM for opposing offenses.

Losing Mathieu really hurt our defense. He was the leader, obviously. He was also the emotional firecracker for the team. He went out in Fall camp, remember. LSU lost their best player and Heisman finalist right before the season started. That really affected the Defense.

After losing to Bama, the defense mailed it in. They were off to the NFL and were just playing out their time. All of those juniors were.

They were great for LSU, but it was time to move on. The 2011 season, the loss to Alabama on 1/9, Mathieu's expulsion, and the loss to Alabama again last year took the fire out of them, I think. They were ready to move on.

But, honestly, that would have been the case if they would have beaten Alabama. Those guys were good, but they were ready for the NFL and their paychecks. I do not really blame them. In the future, we are going to have to win with Sophomores and Juniors who are trying to still prove themselves.

Well, Mettenberger played well sans the Clemson game. But, he was on his back most of that game, too.

I think our D will be better. I do not know if we over trained or what, but we looked tired the end of last year on the defensive front, and our secondary was average. I really think Reid under performed. Teams are going to be shocked how well we play this year, especially if Moffit did his job the way he did in 2011.

I find it rather amusing that the only team in college football who has lost players is LSU.
No other team lost anyone in the last year.
And that no one will be replacing the ones we lost. We will play with 3 players on defense.

Alabama has not lost one player in eleventy-seven years. They're all in their 30's. The players that Alabama (and other teams) lost from 2012 just like, don't count or something. Only LSU's.

They also act like the many LSU players that return this year are just out of high school or something. They don't even comprehend that many of them started games or played significant time last year in games.

I hope we embarrass them this year.

The one player I really wish we still had is a minter. If do anything to have him back one more year. What a beast.

I am not an LSU fan (though I enjoy watching LSU games), but LSU rarely gets good press from the sports media.

something that many on this board will never, ever understand. only one scenerio could have made the last 12yrs any better and that frickn' scenerio resides two states over looking larger than the Alps...but we have our own version of Hannibal and we comin'.
