LSU Lady Tigers 80, TAMU 63 Final!

Well, the Lady Tigers......who were 9-4 last week and almost assured an NCAA tournament bid..........face a must-win situation today. After having lost two in a row and dropping their conference record to 9-6 they can ill afford to lose this game today. Ten wins in conference would pretty much assure an NCAA invite. However, a 9-7 conference record with a 15-13 overall record would be tough to get an invite....................despite playing without our best player in the first 14 games. Here's a preview.........

I believe with a win and an ole miss win over miss state OR South Carolina win over KY we would get the #4 seed (or 3 seed if both happen) and double bye by virtue of winning the 3 or 4 way tiebreaker since we would have went undefeated against the teams involved.

The ladies looked REALLY good in that first half. DaShawn Harden is playing like a woman in her final home game with 22 pts. If we can continue to pressure the ball defensively like we have been, we can pull this game out.................and yes, possibly get the #4 seed in the SEC tournament.

Harden has cooled off a little but, it now appears Danielle Ballard is beginning to assert herself.

Ladies playing with more intensity and confidence since beginning of season. Shooting percentage appears to also have improved greatly from many players.

They should try to win the first SEC tourney game just in case but I just can't see them being left out of the NCAA tourney as the 4th place team in a good SEC.

That was a VERY nice win by the ladies today. They came out to take care of business from the opening tip and, for the most part, never let up. They were led by DaShawn Harden in the first half (she finished with 28 pts) and Ballard in the second half (20 pts). It was clear that those two were determined to not let this team lose today.
As a result, we finish 10-6 in SEC play AND we garnered the #4 seed in the SEC tournament. This guarantees a double bye in the conference tournament and just about assures an NCAA at large bid. Great job my Nikki Caldwell and her staff today!
