Cooper had a 13 year run at Ohio State with a 111-43-4 record. Les is 110-32 at LSU over 11 seasons. Cooper had just run off seasons of 11-2, 11-1, 10-3, 11-1 before dropping to 6-6 in 1999 and rebounding back to 8-4. Ohio State still canned him. He was well liked, posted a winning percentage greater than 70%, but couldn't beat Michigan so they decided to move on.

Tressel rolls in and wins a title in year 2, beating Miami. Since the firing of Cooper, Ohio State is 149-31, a ridiculous 82.7% percentage, played in 3 NCs, winning 2, and going 12-0 in another season where they were ineligible for postseason play.

Will we see the same increased success that Ohio State realized after canning Cooper? I think so. The talent is here, the facilities are here, the support is here, but the overall coaching has been a roller coaster, with us being in a near free-fall since 2011.

Bring us our Jim Tressel (not THE Jim Tressel haha) and we can start our immediate rise back to the top.

Texas A&M - Slocum
Alabama - Stallings
Tennessee - Fulmer
Nebraska - Solich

The list goes on. Your one example doesn't offset the numerous ones that have gone the other way. Sorry bud.

Cooper never won a championship. Miles has.

149-31 is good

If we can just manage to turn the SEC into the Big10 from 2008-2015 then, yeah, this plan works.

It's more of a comparison of Cooper's 13 year record vs Ohio State's record since: 70% vs 82%.

People thought Ohio State was insane to get rid of Cooper, and the last 15 years have shown that they made the right move.

But go ahead and ignore everything. We all know you are a moron.

Id be fine with The Jim Tressel. He gets out of NCAA jail december of 2016. Maybe coach O as interim until then.

Good analogy all around, OP.

Lots of examples both ways.
Schnellenberger
Johnson
Erickson
Davis
Hell even Coker temporarily.

Obviously don't want the program mismanagement and NCAA violations Miami had.

As an Alabama fan, your posts are irrelevant in the discussion of LSU's future head coach. Whatever you say is obviously only for the good of the Bama clan.

It's more of a shitty post than anything else.

You do realize that having a winning percentage of 82 over 15 seasons is an anomaly and not the norm, right?

I never said LSU should keep Miles. Some idiots just choose to read it that way.

How ridiculous.

quote:

Texas A&M - Slocum

Slocum was the hire after they got rid of Jackie Sherrill, who had been one of their most successful coaches ever.

quote:

Alabama - Stallings

Stallings was the hire when they ran off Bill Curry a couple of months after he won the SEC title and had them 10-0 and ranked #2 going into the Auburn game.

quote:

Tennessee - Fulmer

Fulmer was the hire after they got rid of Johnny Majors, who had a successful career.

quote:

Nebraska - Solich

What kind of fricking idiot thinks there is ANY similarity whatsoever between LSU and Nebraska? The recruiting base, conference affiliation, etc. are all completely different. LSU is MUCH more similar to Florida State after getting rid of Bowden than Nebraska after Solich.

The stupid logic that a coach should never be fired because sometimes it doesn't help is just that: stupid logic. MANY schools have seen improvement in their program for years after firing a coach and hiring a new one, including LSU in 1980.
