2007- Crowton
2011- Studrawa
2013- Cameron

2011 had great defense and special teams to put the offense in a good spot but they were still effective. Having a new system can kill the sec in its first year as history shows. It's just the years after they are a drop off. Other years to look at are 2013 auburn, 2012 a&m.

Just looking at the last ten years

Cameron actually looked decent in 2013. All hell broke lose when he didn't have all star wide receivers and a competent QB

This is very common in the SEC.

Teams/coaches learn how to stop a lot of guys from year 1 to year 2.

It's a solid point. Borges, McElwain, Sumlin, Malzahn, Kiffin in addition to the 3 listed from LSU. There is plenty of evidence that new systems are advantage to the offense and keep the defense guessing without film to prepare.

That's why all this "he needs time to implement his system" BS is just premeditated excuses.

The same idiots claiming you won't be able to judge the new offense in year 1 are the same that blast Miles for not bringing in a new OC last year when it was championship or bust.

Why would a coach on the hot seat do that if the new system will hold them back year 1??

Just more double speak and goal post moving by the mob.

Miles didn't do anything new in eleven years but you expect Orgeron and Canada to untangle all of that and reverse it in a single off season? Who is moving the goal post here?

All those had Senior starting qbs I believe as does this one

Hopefully after Etling it won't require that to have great offenses

Did you actually watch LSU football?

The offensive styles were in groups of...

2005-2006
2007-2008
2009-2012
2013
2014-2016

All different offenses.

LOL, this is all easily explained.

2007 senior QB, 2011 2 senior QBs, 2013 senior QB

Not to mention NFL level WRs in Doucet, LaFell, Beckham, Randle, and Landry, and good running backs. LSU had at least one WR who had at least 2 years of starting experience on the field each year, aka, a leader. We also had the offensive lines right.

Also, If you watch the offenses they weren't dramatically different. We didn't go to read option or high powered spreads, or the air raid.

LSU checks off some of the boxes but not all.

What we do have
- Excellent RB
- Senior QB
- Not a dramatic difference in offense. Most of it is pre snap and using more players in the attack like FB, TE, and speedsters.

What we don't have
- One WR with at least 2 years of starting experience
- a good OL

Also, Etling doesn't have Flynn's mobility (remember the catch 30+ yards down the field), or Mett's cannon so he'll be less effective than both including having no experienced wideouts. The OL is in shambles at this point as we have one good one in Clapp, average in Weathersby, bad at pass blocking LT in Malone, and the other two are inexperienced.

I'm expecting a few more TD passes, and Guice to destroy, but beyond that, nothing.

3 yards and a cloud of dust came back to Earth for throwback "year" it seemed.

That drive against Tennessee was the most impressive offensive drive I've ever seen - in 50 years of watching football.

16 plays, 99 yards, TOP 8:55. And the previous drive, 12 plays, 66 yards, TOP 7:08 - means we consumed an entire quarter of football (in the second half) scoring 14 points, going away from a team we've had a worse record of success, historically, than even Bama.

In Knoxville. With a QB that couldn't really pass all that well.

Obviously Les shut all that new fangled stuff that they brought in down in their second years.

are you sure? Because in his last 3+ years, Les went 10-10 against the West, 15-11 overall SEC.

His first seven years were much better than his last 3+. That's why it was time for him to go.

10-10 against the West, yet we're supposed to be proud that others did worse? I'll let you bask in that glory, Rick, but I'll remain incredibly frustrated at the level of underachievement.
