C.

Seriously, as bad as a rep we may have I have never seen anything that has been said unless someone brings it on themselves. Like people have said, you get what you give and if you act like a jackass someone will act like a jackass towards you. If your cool, you'll have a good time with a bunch of cool people. And if your dumb enough to go to an area highly populated with drunk college students, then you deserve what you get. It's like the fan that sits in the SS and says he was treated awfully. No shite!!

We are glad to have you my friend.

1. New Orleans Friday is a great call.

2. Like wise, arriving in Baton Rouge by 10:00 am is a must. You have to beat the traffic in and find a decent parking spot.

2. The best tailgating in my opinion is to the East of the Stadium in areas just west of The Quad. Especially near the Indian Mounds. But I would go everywhere, The Parade Grounds, the RV area, etc, right down between the stadium and the assembly center, etc. There is lots of food for sale and probably a band playing by the Assembly Center and the pre-game show ther as well.

3. Definitely fly your colors. No problem with being at your jorty best. Just smile and laugh and realize Tiger Bait is NOT a threat, just an invitation to party.

4. If invited, partake. If not invited, ASK if you can sponge. LSU fans live to entertain. It's in our DNA. It's important to us that you have fun. Get yourself set up at a place with some tv's and an open bar and food.

5. THIS PART IS ESSENTIAL. Make sure you are by the INDIAN MOUNDS about 3 hours before game time. The team buses will arrive. The players get off the bus and walk down the hill. Later the band arrives and marches down the hill and it is loud and festive. I can't tell you the exact time line, but i think the band arrives 90 minutes before kickoff. You can not miss this.

6. After the band plays have one last adult beverage and get in the Stadium. The pregame atmosphere is awesome, with music, videos, the epic BAND playing the LSU fight song etc.

7. At this point, just accept the fact that LSU is about to crush your dreams and give you a Bayou Beat-down. Resistance is futile. Just sit on your hands, be very, very quiet and accept your inevitable fate like a man. If Tim Tebow's head is seperated from his body on a backside blitz, I will assure you that LSU officials will remove his lifeless Heisman-like body in an honorable way ,and he will recieve a brief and stirring tribute from our crowd. Because we care.

Impossible. We live to be evil and cause other fans as much pain as possible so they have the worst time possible.

Well said!

I think the busses drop you off at the old Alex Box Stadium lot. (Anyone know for sure?) I'll make a little walking map for you.

Dude, there is some serious BS on here.

1. You WILL BE Tigerbaited to no end regardless of you or your family are acting.
2. DO NOT go over to Mikes Cage. Thats the north end of the stadium and the students hang out there. They are the rudest crudest bunch you will ever find. Go see the Tiger cage on Friday, not gameday.
3. Sharing the food and drink-never had anything offered. I've never said one word to anyone other than how are you and some idiot jumps in my face everytime and says something intelligent like "Better than you Gump" or something. Heck with food, just get in the stadium. The tiger baiting and getting in your face is so incessant that you wont be thiking of food or drink.
4. Be prepared, if you have a wife or girfriend for nasty things to be said to her.

I have been a few times and have vowed to never go back. I actually fell threatend there and it aint worth it. It could be the greatest road trip but the fans make it absolutely miserable. you will feel this way too.

If you dont believe me, just ask other fanbases. Even your own.

1. Who cares? Quit being such a pussy. Its just a tigerbait.

2. Mike's cage is where the students are? HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO A GAME HERE? Wtf man, you're a blatant liar. The students mostly tailgate on the parade grounds.

3. If you've never had anything offered to you you must've been a total prick to some people, which by your post, seems to be true.

4. Maybe shes hideous. If I ever see a hot girl from another school I'm going to invite her over to flirt, not be a dick.

Seems to me like you brought this on yourself by being a huge douche to some people during your stay. We had 10-15 Bama fans at our tailgate and they said it was the best roadtrip they've ever taken.

As for advice:
- as others have said, get here early.
- bring your thick skin, if you can take the banter without losing your mind like this Bama child you'll be treated like a king.
- DO NOT, BY ANY MEANS, MISS PREGAME. THIS IS A MUST. Bring your earplugs. I promise you'll never seen a crazier 10 minutes in your life.

Um, I've never seen students actually tailgating anywhere in particular. Mike's cage is actually where the students are. That's near the North End Zone entrance for students and there's a horde of them near there. In the middle of a horde of thousands of drunk students is not where I'd want to be if I was a visiting fan.

I made a walking tour map for you.

Start is at the old Alex Box Stadium lot (I'm pretty sure that's where the busses drop people off). This takes you through the campus to The Chimes then back through the campus to Walk-Ons, then a small detour to Alex Box Stadium (in case you might want to take some pics) then on to places around the stadium, finally ending up at the South Endzone entrance of the stadium (where the visitor seats usually are).

Here's a grapefruit for folks to swing at (though I'd also appreciate some honest feedback). What advice have you got in terms of where to go/what to do/what to see gameday to get most out of our 12 +/- hours in Baton Rouge? Am bringing 7 friends (none of which are UF alum - simply co-workers) who all wanted to see a game in Baton Rouge so we're looking for best places to enjoy pregame rituals. Basically, we're a bunch of 35-40+ year olds that wish we were back in school for another football season. We're staying in New Orleans Friday night and driving up around noon on Saturday.

My first advice would be to try to get there earlier than noon. The campus fills up before that, even for a night game, and it'll probably be hard to find a decent parking space.

As for things to do, the tailgaters are everywhere, so you can pretty much wander anywhere around campus and see that. Wear your UF gear, and you'll probably be offered food and drinks.

If you're more into an indoor atmosphere, The Chimes is a popular pre- and post-game hangout. It's especially fun for Gator fans because UF sends a bus trip every year of mostly students without tickets who converge on The Chimes to watch the game on TV. About an hour before game time, as the LSU fans start to leave for the game, the Gator buses arrive and literally take over the place.

let me pay a compliment. Of all the SEC rivals we have, I can honestly say LSU is the only one we have whose team/fanbase I admire and respect

Thanks for the kind words, and I hope we live up to your expectations. Outside of Tiger Stadium (obviously I'm biased), there is no better place to watch a college football game than The Swamp (been there six times!). UF and LSU fans are very similar in terms of our passion and support for our team. It's probably one of the reasons the two fan bases get along as well as we do. I firmly believe that our two schools, in addition to having the two best overall athletic programs in the conference, also have the two greatest fan bases.

Enjoy your trip to BR, and hopefully it'll only be the first of two (or even three?) games between our teams this season.

I tailgate on the parade grounds and walking around it sure seems like the prime spot for student tailgating.

I know the student entrance is there and I agree it would suck to be there right before the game but thats only about hour to 2 hours before the game. Going to see Mike at anytime before 430ish for a 7pm game shouldnt run any opposing fans into any trouble. Thats most of the day to go visit him without worry of drunk students. I said there were no students there because if you're visiting Mike's cage you sure aren't going when theres 1298319082 people down there, you're going early when there arent any students in line.

welcome to the board. you're gonna have a great time. dont listen to that ignorant frickin gump. there's really not much else to add to what everybody else has covered except this little bit of advice.
you ARE going to see +/-25,000 near perfect cajun girls that you'll wanna take home. keep your hands to yourself.

Im torn for this game. I really want to protect our house, but that will send the gators in slit throat mode when we revisit them in Atlanta. If we lose at home we have a much better shot to beat them in December and a better shot a the NC game or Sugar Bowl if we are indeed as good a some r saying we could be and not as bad as Bama and Ole miss fans are hoping we will be.

Well jrzl you've gotten a lot of good advise from the rantards. But don't be fooled, they didn't give you the final picture cause if you get there early and eat and drink for 4-5 hours you'll be lucky to make it to a shade tree and collapse with strange stomach sounds and hard of breathing until after the game is over!!!

Have a great time!
