all i hear from oregon fans is that if it wasn't for the fumbles and the 20 points off of turnovers LSU wouldnt have won. I wonder what happens to oregon's score if you did the same thing, but i'll keep LSU's score at 20 just to please the ducks.

first, take away the fumble LSU had from the wild snap. That turnover led to a fg. Oregons score is now 24-20.

second, take away oregon's first td due to the drive being extended by penalty. i'll give them a fg since they would have been in fg range without the penalty. The score is now tied at 20

third, take away that fluke of a touchdown on their last drive due to playing a mixture of first and second stringers and the defense switching to conservative mode. Moves the score to 20-13.

So with both teams mistakes and turnovers factored in, LSU still wins this game by a td.

I was thinking about how many game sLSU could "what if". I bet if a couople of things went differently, we could've beat Miami in '88!

Who's to say they would have even scored? We fumble it to them on the 28 and they can only get 7 yards and 3 pts... sorry but minus two drives our D shut them down.

Only one team had a truly "unforced" turnover, and that was LSU.

God I am so tired of hearing about the fumbles! Fumbles happen in football, they are part of the game. Fans of any team that "what if?" are idiots!

turnovers, injuries and penalties happen in football. Good football teams overcome them. Great football teams cause them.

You can "what if" all day but the only thing that matters is what actually happened.

For instance, what if LSU ran back that interception for a touchdown and both of the long passes (the one that was called back and the one that was dropped) went for touchdowns? You are looking at 21 more points but it didn't happen so it doesn't matter.

this... Posted in UO's shitey oregonlive.com forum:

"If we hadn't turned over the ball and given you 20 pts we would have won."

"We had more offense"

Facts:

- we turned over the ball on the 28 and all you could get was 7 yards in 3 plays and a field goal

- you turned over the ball to us on the 21 and we ran it in in 5 plays

The total offense stats are irrelevant... you guys had 3 good drives, you also had 8 drives where you averaged 2.625 yards a drive

We had less offense but that's because they won't let us keep driving through the endzone, unfortunately they make us quit playing offense at that point and give the ball back to you (check the rule book, im pretty certain on this one.)

It's not our fault you guys "gave" us (although some might argue we earned) awesome field position.

Actually, LSU got lucky, Oregon gave that game away...

...just like the other 62 teams that have lost to Miles since he's been coaching at LSU.

Yep, I've never seen such a lucky streak.

Sorry Oregon, but what can we say? We're just EXTREMELY lucky.

You know what they say, it's better to be Les Miles than good.

- or -

Les Miles is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.

Just think if we would have made that extra point. We totally gift wrapped Oregon a point by not kicking that one through. Good thing things like that don't count when you evaluate a game later since unforced errors and bad things your team does can be wished away.

Well if we wouldn't of dropped two nukes on japan we might still be in a war with them. "Wat if's" are a waste of time because every decision and action after the "what if" would have been different. Hell maybe we would of won by more. Tell them to book a rematch next year if they think they can beat us.
