All of our stellar D's have had NFL caliber guys "up the middle". (They have also had lock down corners, but lets assume we can fill that year in and year out).

2003:
DT - Lavalias and K Williams
LB - Eric Alexander
Safety - Laron Landry

2007:
DT - Dorsey
LB - Highsmith
Safety - Chad Jones

2011:
DT - Brokers, Logan, Ego
LB - Minter
safety - Eric Reid

2016? - Who you got?
DT -
LB -
Safety - J Adams

besides Beckwith being a question mark, the 2016 defense is pretty easy to figure out.

The 2007 defense also featured Tyson Jackson on the D-line. He was a pretty good one.

Dline - Godchaux. How good were those 2003, 2007, 2011 studs in their second year?

DE/LB: Key, Washington, Clark, Teuhema, Bower, Neal, Patterson

LB: Riley, Alexander, Beckwith(if he returns), Thompson, Voohries,

DT/DE: Godchaux, LaCouture, Heron,

Plus any of the incoming Freshman, one or two could contribute(typical with that amount of talent)

So, if he really can take average players and make them "productive"....we should be ok

Thanks for the reminder on Bain. My bad

The question was studs "up the middle".

If we stay in the 4-3 Godchaux can be the guy. But if we move to a 3-4 he will be a DE and non longer "up the middle"

I know it's Louisiana and reading comprehension is not our state's strong suit.

Just like being a douche is your strong suite??

I was simply listing the players that could play LB, DT, & DE. When you have a new coach it can open doors for players who have not contributed prior as well as players getting moved.

I understood the question, however a new thread was not necessary to list our players who could play the middle.

You are free to patrolling the board for questions not being answered properly.

Whatever became of Valentine? Is he a juco player now? I remember a rumor being spread on here a while back that he was attempting to come back to LSU, but I haven't heard anything concrete.

Nfl ability notwithstanding...
03 up the middle LB was Lonnie Turner
07 Darry Beckwith
Bad men who made big plays.
