Unfortunately, I don't think the promise of better draft position will keep Beckwith in school. I hope I'm wrong because we desperately need him on the field while these 2016 recruits get up to speed, but I think the incident with La'el this past year is going to be hurtful to keeping guys in school.
Not because he went undrafted, that was a bizarre set of circumstances. But because it emphasized the importance of the second contract. La'el may actually be in a better position long-term than he would have been had he been taken in the 1st this past year. If Beckwith isn't a convinced that he'd be a surefire 1st round pick in the 2017 draft, then the best course of action for him personally would be to go 2nd-3rd round in the 2016 draft, establish himself as one of the best young LBs in the league, and get paid.
frick the CBA.

1) 5-10 mill insurance policy
2) letting him understand that he won't have much competition for 1st LB taken with guys like Scooby Wright, Myles Jack, Jaylon Smith, Reggie Ragland, the Auburn guys, and the guys from Ohio State.
So we're already talking about "next year"?

And the year before, and the year after, and the year after that. You should have realized this when you replied to a thread which referred to a dynasty.

The obvious implication is, this year is excused because it's "setting up" for next year.
It seems lately, for LSU, every season is a "setup" season.
Miles needs to do some quick "setting up" and get this "dynasty" started pretty soon.

SOS wait till next year. But I am all in!

How about you just quit putting a negative spin on everything and pissing all over it?
We return both quarterbacks from last year, one of whom is looking like he's turned the corner towards being among the SEC's elite... and all of his receiving targets from the last year. We have a Heisman-caliber RB running behind a nasty OL that returns 3/5 starters...
Our interior defense is the strongest I can remember it being in YEARS and we again have the best secondary in the country... and based on everything that's come out of the media sessions, we're going to be AGGRESSIVE this year and generate sacks and turnovers, two things that have been sorely missed in recent years.
Depending on the Auburn game, we'll be 7-1/8-0 heading into the last month of the season. Until proven otherwise, I'm chalking up aTm as a win and we should be able to take 2/3 between Alabama, Arkansas, and Ole Miss.
This year is the START of the dynasty.

Are you an LSU fan? You should already know the drill with 3 and dones. Beckwith is already getting mocked in the late 2nd and early 3rd rounds. If he has a great year, he's gone IMO. That's why I said that we might have an outside shot of pitching staying behind.
We could pitch him on winning a national championship, the insurance policy, show him that he'd be the #1 guy for 2017 draft (unless somebody comes out of nowhere). Talk to him about grooming the next wave of LSU greats. I mean got damn man, Bama got Mosley (2013) and Ragland (2014) to come back, Auburn got Mckinzy and Frost to come back, Ohio State got Joshua Perry, why can't we bring back a senior LB?

It's like yall are oblivious to who the head coach is. If Les had dynasty type run in him he would have already ran.

Beckwith stays, and leads team beyond what team 2011 did.

All I know if the DL gets the recruits they expects and Harris keeps improving. It's going to be a special couple of seasons because man we're loaded!
