There's already a thread where Dick Vitale had LSU as the #35 team going into next season, but here is another good article on Jason King's top 10 things he is looking forward to in 2013-2014 season:

2. Freshman
Aaron Gordon (Arizona), Jabari Parker (Duke), Jerrell Martin (LSU) and Wayne Selden (Kansas) have all been mentioned as likely or potential first-round NBA draft picks in 2014. KU's Bill Self has told friends that center Joel Embiid could end up being the best big man he's ever coached, and no one would be surprised if preseason top-10 teams Florida (Kasey Hill) and Syracuse (Tyler Ennis) start freshman point guards.

7. Mediocre teams becoming good, bad teams getting better
Three teams getting zero love that will make the NCAA tournament:
LSU Tigers: The Tigers return leading scorer and rebounder Johnny O'Bryant (13.6 points, 8.7 boards) along with standout guard Anthony Hickey, who ranked second in the country in steals (2.9) while chipping in a team-high 3.8 assists and 11.2 points. LSU also adds a pair of forwards in Jarrell Martin -- the No. 11-ranked player in the Class of 2013 -- and Jordan Mickey, who will have an immediate impact. The SEC will be strong this season thanks to up-and-coming programs such as LSU (and Tennessee, among others).

I think next year could be very special. I also agree that Martin will be one and done, even if he isn't ready.
When you go into the season with 1st round hype, you have a much better shot getting drafted there.

When you are trying to build like lsu having one of these guys around helps big time. It sucks that they will only stay a year, but it should help them get moving in the right direction. Just don't want to have 3-4 of these guys because the following year will suck....ask Kentucky this year (and likely in 2 years).

100% agree. I think the perfect class has:
1 - one-and-done
2-3 - program four year players
1-2 - JUCO 2 year guys at positions of need
0-1 - project players that may be asked to transfer

I wish college basketball were like baseball. Either you go pro after high school if you are good enough or you come to college and stay at least 3 years. It would make the college game so much better.
Now teams are stuck with, do I sign the best players possible and have them gone after 1 year? And can I keep those type of players always coming in?
Or do I try to mix it up, like this lsu class. But if you do that, can you really beat the teams with the 3-4 nba ready guys.

I 100% think so. System guys are vital to the process. Take Kentucky last year who had 3-4 NBA ready guys, but they didn't buy into the system. They were knocked out of the NIT in the first round.
The leadership of juniors and seniors really help your freshman out who haven't experienced college before. It's a very interesting transition in life, more than even basketball.

I'm thinking 5-7 but I could see a 4 seed. Let's hope this is just the start of a very bright future.

John Brady has shite to do with pasts LSU success. I was always embarrassed to see his arse on the sideline. His downfall started when players started getting g in his face on national tv.
