Dunn is so overrated, unless our pitching turns it around he along with Gibbs need to be shown the door.

Pap possibly has the best approach at the plate than anyone on the team. Always battles and even when he gets out he usually see 4-6 pitches. Pitchers don't like seeing a guy like him even tho they know they might get him out. He might miss a first pitch curveball by a mile but I'm ok with that you still have two strikes to work with and he uses them well outside of the getting a hit part.

Thanks Tad. Always liked your threads over past few years.

I know we swept a horrible team this weekend, but I think Pap has really turned the corner, has gotten his confidence back, and is now an advantage for us at the plate.

These numbers make me optimistic. Our pitching has been the disappointment, but I trust in both Poche and Lange to pitch very well in postseason play.

I've been able to track down Summer League destinations for 15 players so far, including 3 incoming freshmen:

Beau Jordan - Cape Cod - Brewster Whitecaps
Austin Bain - Texas Collegiate - Acadiana Cane Cutters
Nick Coomes - Northwoods - St Cloud Rox
Andrew Bechtold - Northwoods - WisRapids Rafters
Brennan Breaux - Cape Cod - Bourne Braves
Chris Reid - Prospect - Kokomo Jackrabbits
Caleb Gilbert - Cape Cod - Chatham A's
Antoine Duplantis - Cape Cod - Harwich Mariners
Zachary Hess - Cape Cod - Bourne Braves
Jake Slaughter - Cape Cod - Y-D Red Sox
Mason Templet - Prospect - Danville Dans
Josh Smith - Cape Cod - Harwich Mariners
Mason Doolittle - Prospect - Danville Dans
Nick Webre - Prospect - Danville Dans
Brandon McCabe - South Florida - Phipps Park Barracudas

McCabe going to a Collegiate Summer League before his freshman year is particularly interesting to me. He's barely thrown for his HS team this season (1 inning, from what I could tell). But he's a big time draft prospect. This league will give him about a week and a half to get innings in before the draft, if that's his focus. But it also allows him to get a decent amount of live work in ahead of coming to LSU in the fall, if that's his decision.

Call me overly optimistic, but I actually find those numbers somewhat encouraging. They're hitting the ball better than I thought, just not timely, and we know that our starting pitching is capable of better than what they have done as of late. They are within striking distance down the stretch and have a history of getting hot at the right time. They NEED to sweep this weekend, though.

And to be clear, those numbers aren't great and aren't where we expect them to be, but the hitting is better than I thought and I have confidence that the pitching can come around.

Where can we find sec only for the rest of the players (non-leaders)?

I don't think we need to sweep. It would help to win the SEC and get a national seed, but I'm fine with being a 2 seed in a Regional somewhere else.

Fun fact: Last national seed to win the CWS was in 2011.

Numbers this year are odd. The SEC batting average numbers are low across the board but if you look at the team pitching, the ERA numbers don't look great either. Not sure what gives with that

SEC Conference Only Team Pitching

ERA:
1. Ole Miss 3.33
2. Texas A&M 3.49
3. USC 3.62
4. Auburn 3.64
5. Florida 3.66
6. Missouri 3.97
7. Kentucky 4.09
8. Tennessee 4.49
9. Vanderbilt 4.65 (wow)
10. LSU 4.69
11. State 4.71
12. Arkansas 4.84
13. Alabama 5.18
14. Georgia 5.95

SEC League Average: 4.30

And btw, for those of y'all that, at one point in the season, were complaining about Pap's defense. He is tied for the league lead with fewest passed balls in SEC play (1) and overall (2). He also leads the league in runners caught stealing both in SEC play and overall. He's thrown out 8/19 runners in SEC play (.421) and 19/43 overall (.442).

No, just win the series. Win the next 3 series and we win the SEC

Nola.com article on progress of LSU bullpen: LINK

Nick Bush could be a big contributor down this stretch run. Note that the Hunter Kiel experiment is over (after costing us three games). LSU stats show his ERA at 18.47 and batting average against at .296.

Doubtful. Kentucky is 14-7 and has series at home against Tennessee (6-14) and Georgia (5-16) and then a road series against Florida (13-8). They could easily be at 19 or 20 wins heading into Florida.

More than likey, but I would feel a lot better about it sitting at 20 conference wins and the likelihood of sweeping either of the other two remaining weekends is pretty slim.
