Can't improve if he doesn't play. And baseball is one of the sports where it's mostly based on projections. No other sport expects their first round pick to take 2-3 years to develop into a full time starter. It would be like the NFL sending their players to Canada for 3 years.

ETA: My point is that he may feel like "improving" would not help is draft stock. Players are projected and expected to improve in the minors.

Maybe he's not worried about his initial contract. He may want to get in the minors a year earlier, and be a year closer to that big contract. Not to mention, next year he loses all leverage, seeing that he will be a senior.

But Moore will play. I understand thinking someone like Foster may go because he isn't going to play ahead of Stevenson, Laird, or Fraley. But Moore will play more often than not even if Mainieri decides to play the matchup game from time to time.

There is a poster on this site who has admitted to being close to the Moore family. They have made comments about "he gone" before. Other posters here know the source in real life. I can connect the dots.

If he goes 0 for 8 against lefties, he wouldn't see one again for the rest of the year.

Those matchups aren't going to help him against LHP.

He'll get much more playing time in the minors starting with Rookie ball this year. And he has bargaining power as junior. And he's signable.

If a poster has claimed that on this board then what's the mystery about? Is it a national security secret? Who posted it?

I didn't see anyone claim to have personal contact with Moore or his family and apparently neither has Cap Crunch.

Named National Player of the Week on Monday, not in starting lineup on Wednesday.

Great find Russian. I guess that means that Moore is thinking about staying.

Moore was never a dominant defensive player and hit in the .260s his freshman year and .280s last year. It's not some huge mystery as to why he wasn't playing more often. Unless the player has a huge attitude problem, isn't going 100% at practice, etc., Mainieri is going to play the guys who give them the best chance to win.

Is that the game where he was inserted in like the 2nd inning after Chinea and company drove off the starting pitcher?

Which pissed me off as much as y'all. But outside of us assuming that Moore thinks Mainieri hates him and is ready to jump ship, we don't have any proof that Moore is ready to go. I'm not saying he won't, but I'm not accepting it as fact.
