Obvious goals: hosting super regional and a trip to Omaha.

Like most have said in this thread, I expect hitting to be better, but pitching with a slight drop off. Losing Broussard is big. He had potential to be Sunday starter. I'd look for McCune to get first crack at Sunday, followed by JoeyB and probably Bonvillian.

What concerns me the most is defensive positioning. Katz should probably play 1B, which leaves Bregman, Jones, Moore, Powell, Ibarra to play SS, 2B, and 3B.

I think your analysys is spot on.

Here is a LINK to an article in today"s Advocate. Its main focus is Sciambra, but later on it says that Ibarra will be at third with Bregman at short. Third starting pitcher is still up for grabs. That is my biggest concern right now. I also saw McCune get shelled in the P&G WS, and he didn't look that effective in other Fall appearances.

Are you mad brah?

Katz also has to run the bases when he gets on... I assume you think he's a great base runner?

GTFO of the thread if you're stuck on flaming HC. He's a one of the great baseball posters we have here, which actually makes the Rant enjoyable to read during baseball season unlike football season.

I'll be pretty worried if McCune is a weekend starter. We have to have someone better than him.

Y'all be nice to the troll.

Truth be told, we have about 10-15 solid baseball posters and the rest show up when we are winning.

he was pretty good a freshman. If he could match what he did then, we would have a nasty 1-2 punch with he and nola.

Yeah, I agree. He has the ability to go out and pitch an efficient game, but I don't think he has the ability to do it week in and week out.

Bourgeois worries me if batters get to see him 2/3 times around the order and then start to pick up on his pitches. I think that's one of the main reasons he was so effective last year out of the pen.

Bonvillain was hit or miss last year. I would like to see more out of him before trying him out as a starter, but it would be a great addition if it worked since he's a large lefty with a little bit of a deceptive motion.

Cody Glenn is my sleeper for the Sunday spot. I'm really hoping this kid finds his groove and shows why he was a Top 10 round draft pick. But realistically, it is just as likely some new kid we've never heard of before comes in and takes the Sunday spot. Alan Dunn can work some magic.

Those are abundant even when we're winning.

I pretty much agree with this assessment. Someone will come out of no where to lock that spot down. Would love to see one of the lefties lock it down not named Cotton.

Michael Barash is an early enrollee that could be a factor at 3rd if no one has solidified the position in the Spring. Obviously he will be well behind the others, but he had one of the best showings from our 2013 class on the showcase circuit this Summer.

If anyone is wondering where to look for all the players Mainieri has run off the last couple years:

Carson Baranik - Miami-Dade College
Braden Strickland - Howard CC
Marcus Davis - Florida St
Kevin Koziol - Parkland College
Christian Trent - Delgado
Aaron Johnson - Arkansas Baptist College

All are at Jucos except for Davis, who went to FSU after a 2 yr stint at Walters St CC. There are more out there, these are just the ones I could remember off the top of my head.

Did Davis end up at FSU? I thought it was Florida. I hope that is correct and we don't have to face him.
