Wow, some interesting stuff in this public audit by the state- for example in 2013, Womens basketball spent more then men's to recruit. Is this a title IX thing? If so fine, but wow....see page 12, am I reading this right? I'm a big fan of WB program (depsite not liking our current coach)but in no way should we spend same as men...

Well there's Title IX for starters, and perhaps the recruits they were going after last year were in locations that required higher travel budgets?

And I just looked at the report. WBB spent $1500 more...so 1% more. Give me a break.

Lousiana has a lot of really good male athletes...therefore the coaches dont have to go as far to recruit top level guys...and dont have to spend as much money....women arent necessarily the same. Even if there are good women athletes in Louisiana think about how many get pregnant before 18. I know LSU football players have children often, so the females are clearly the child-bearers. Just have to search more diligently for female sports.

also, title IX related, in 2005 same report, womens bbal lost 1.2mm, 2013 it lost 3mm+, "other sports" lost $5mm in 2005, and lost $12mm in 2013. Costs more and more to have the non-revenue sports. It is what it is, but wow. (and again, I support most womens' sports and go to the games etc)

im not saying it is wrong just did not know it was this way, figured you should spend somewhat proprtinate to what you make, but guess thats Titl IX, and assume we are not out of line with others.

Baseball is covered under "other sports" and is responsible for a lot of the revenue there. It would look a lot worse otherwise.

1. There are not that many good HS basketball players to begin with.

2.What elite players out of high school of note got pregnant before 18?

Well if that's the case all the women's and Olympic sports wouldn't have a recruiting budget.
