BATON ROUGE – For the second time in three weeks, LSU and Tiger Stadium were home to the most-watched college football game of the week on Saturday when the Tigers beat Auburn, 23-20 in Death Valley.

Televised on CBS, the LSU-Auburn game drew 7.175 million viewers, easily the most-watched college football game on Saturday. The contest delivered a 13 percent increase in viewership over last year's comparable game (Georgia vs. Florida).

Three week ago, the LSU-Florida telecast on ESPN was the most-watched college football game on that network in nearly two years as the contest averaged 6.45 million viewers.

Birmingham was the top-rated market for the game with a 40.3 rating, followed by New Orleans at 27.7. Columbus, Ohio, registered a 13.0, followed by Atlanta (12.4) and Jacksonville (11.3).

This is why CBS doesn’t lose a lot by not moving the game to prime time. They can still have the most watched game of the weekend even starting at 2:30

There weren't many attractive games this week outside the Big 10 and Wisconsin losing to Illinois made their game vs OSU much less attractive.

According to CBS, these were the top five markets for this year’s Tiger Bowl:

Birmingham – 40.3/57
New Orleans – 27.7/47
Columbus, OH – 13.0/24
Atlanta – 12.4/27
Jacksonville – 11.3/23

Through the first nine weeks of the college football season, the “SEC ON CBS” season-to-date viewership is the Network’s best since 2016,

NOLA market would have been higher if more people didn’t lose power over night.

To be fair, Birmingham also accounts all the Auburn fans watching their own team.

Also, unfortunately the only market they look at in LA is NO. You know the state of LA was watching.
