For me, its nice to feel positive about a baseball postseason. The tyranny of high expectations is a real thing. We were stacked last year and in 2013 and those two teams would have both won a natty or at least made the final series before the bats were nerfed IMO.
Sports are really hard to enjoy if its title or bust every season, because almost no one wins the title in a given season. Its nice to watch some good baseball and get unreasonably excited when we succeed rather than feeling ho-hum about it, like "well, we're supposed to be here!".

If you're a national seed the term dark horse doesn't really apply. It's the equivalent of saying that Nova was a dark horse in the tourney.

I understand the point yall are making to some degree, but I still don't think getting a No. 8 national seed carries with it the expectations that yall do.
If you think the thread title is a misnomer, maybe you're right. But I think its worth noting that since the introduction of national seeds in 1999, zero No. 6, No. 7 or No. 8 national seeds have won a natty.

I guarantee a boat load have made CWS though. I'm not saying they haven't been on an impressive run. I in no way thought that they would be in this position a month ago. I'm just saying that, given the history of baseball dominance, a nationally seeded LSU will never be a dark horse cws contender

This is all semantics though. We're all riding the same possum wave. Geaux tigers
