LSU Announces Initiatives to Avoid Heat on Saturday LINK

by www.LSUsports.net
BATON ROUGE -- LSU has announced measures the school will take and an advisory for fans who will attend the LSU vs. Appalachian State football game on August 30 in anticipation of high temperatures for the 4 p.m. kickoff.
Fans are encouraged to wear loose clothing and a hat and to properly hydrate themselves to avoid heat exhaustion.
Sunscreen of at least 30 SPF is recommended, repeating the application periodically over the course of the day. Sunscreen should be applied while the skin is dry.
Fans are advised to seek shade if dizziness occurs and should drink plenty of fluids, such as water and isotonic drinks.
Fans are advised that excessive alcohol consumption will compound heat problems. (Good luck with that one)
Drinks with excessive caffeine (energy drinks, iced coffee, etc.) should be avoided as they could result in dehydration.
Fans with G-1 respiratory or cardiac disease should be especially careful and should proceed to a First Aid station immediately if help is needed.
LSU will provide the following amenities to fans in anticipation of hot weather conditions on August 30:
Cool misting tents will be placed at five locations around the outside of Tiger Stadium.
The first 30,000 patrons will receive hand fans at gates courtesy of Coca-Cola
Sunscreen will be given away free at Tiger One Village in front of the Pete Maravich Assembly Center courtesy of Ochsner
Free samples of PowerAde will be available near the airplane on the south end of Tiger Stadium
12-ounce bottles of water will be available at a special 2-for-1 price at all concessions stands for only $3.
Three times as much water will be stocked at LSU concession stands for the LSU-Appalachian State game than a normal football game.
Ochsner is providing extra doctors to assist at First Aid stations.
Event staff, security personnel and EMS will be inside and outside the stadium and at the gates looking out for fans in heat distress and directing them to first aid stations.
The Pete Maravich Assembly Center will be open for football fans beginning at kickoff to cool down and watch the game on big screens (Spectators must have a football ticket for entrance to the Maravich Center and should enter up southwest ramp. Fans are advised that SEC rules prohibit re-entry to Tiger Stadium after a ticket has been used.)
General Guidelines for High-Temperature Days:
Wear loose-fitting clothing and a hat
Use sunscreen of at least 30 SPF – repeat application periodically
Seek shade if you begin to feel dizzy
Drink plenty of fluids such as water and isotonic drinks
Avoid excessive consumption of alcohol
Go immediately to a First Aid station or notify a marshal or police officer if you need help

That Cat 5 Hurricane ought to keep the temps down also.

Having the game at night would have helped.

7 o clock kickoff is not like a 4 o clock kickoff.
It is barely tolerable at 7 as it is...

Unless we've moved this thing to Cuba we'll be fine. The hurricane jokes got old about five hours ago.

I heard something about Big Head having a misting tent. Is there any truth to this?
