Do they want to get serious about Basketball or not. It's not rocket science for goodness sake. You make a commitment, hire an up and comer assistant who's up to the challenge, get together a solid staff, and get this program back on track. Firing Jones is a certainty but it doesn't mean jack shite if you don't make a strong commitment and convince a new coach they will be provided the resources. At best you'll go from bad to worse or basically stay the same. I've seen this program under Dale Brown get to the NCAA Tournament consistently. It can be done.

It's almost like they figure they gave Trent Johnson a shot, who on paper was a fantastic hire, and now they just don't care enough to try again. When you're not a blue blood program, the head coach has about a 90% role in how solid your program is in the long term. They either have to write a big check to get someone with credentials or hit the lottery on an up and comer.

I guess I should have wrote "up and comer assistant from a major program". Hell, throw out some names of winning head coaches from any conference who would want to come to LSU. I'm all ears.

You have a point. But I can't agree with calling those men "clowns". Too much respect for them.

I'll get downvoted to hell for saying that, but what's new. I still blame our impotent AD instead, for not having the spine to make the decisions an AD should make, without caving in to outside influences. An AD should always do what's best for the program, not what's best for the brass.

LSU is not hiring an unproven "Up and comer assistant from a major Program."

LSU can hire whoever they want, but it's soley dependent on $$$$$$$$$$$$.

Bottom line, LSU Alums and Fans have to convince Alleva/FKA to spend the bucks and get somebody proven in here............

We hired a DL coach who had failed miserably in his only full time head coach job in football. What in the hell do you think they will do in basketball?

It has to be Rick Stansbury. He's the only coach with any credentials that's interested and he recruits louisiana better than any coach LSU has ever had not named Brown. But first things first they need to fire Jones and I'm not certain they will. I was told that Temple wants jones out but brown wants to give him 2 more years. So let's see if sense prevails.

Its ridiculous. We've been to the Final Four in the last 15 years. Commit and hire a good freaking coach.

Not this shite again. Can u please get over it. Coach O has made all the right moves so far. It might turn out to be an excellent hire. Then what u gonna say " Coach O was a great hire by Alleva". Yea, u one those kind.

LSU Administration's hiring of coach O proves that they aren't serious about their football program. The cash cow of the university. So you think they will spend money on basketball

The fans really don't care. It's like women's tennis, who cares if they win or lose or who their coach is. It is all about money in the end

The fans are deciding for them. When they look at the year on year revenue they will see if firing him and paying his buyout is more cost effective than retaining him.
It's not about the Xs and Os. It's all about the Benjamins.

While I probably don't have as much respect for them as you, I do agree the name calling is probably over the top.

Their promoting of CJJ was certainly IMHO not borne of reason but of emotion and emotion is the true enemy of reason. It was well intentioned, but I think misguided.

Which is why they should not have been given so prominent a seat at the table in steering the hire, which I am fully convinced they were in this case.
