They don't have any dominant free throw shooters. Surely you jest with shortess

coleman was 7-8 coming into today and shot 70% last year

and Shortess shot 94% in HS. why not?

not dominant by any means, but Hickey shot 44% last year and is at 57% this year..

unless we werent in the double bonus, but i think 1 more foul would have put us there

Because he's a walkon who would be coming in cold. He's more likely to turn the ball over (or not even get open to receive it). I mean that is just a really bad idea. And it was not the double bonus.

4 seconds you just catch the ball and hold it. almost impossible to turn it over

Did you just ignore the part about him not getting open to receive it? You must have. I mean you're seriously suggesting bringing a walkon in with the game on the line.

all of this. sometimes I can't tell when Lester is trolling or being serious.

the walk-ons have trouble holding onto the ball against shitty in-state teams up by 30 in the PMAC

that's pretty much the worst idea ever at the end of a huge basketball game

That was probably the most stressful basketball game I've watched since the 2009 North Carolina tournament loss

LOL.
Try BEING there!
I was alternately clenching my jaw, wringing my hands, then jumping up & down screaming my head off!
Exhausting. I'm hoarse.
Exciting ending to say the least.

Nap, its not like im saying bring in a white midget walkon WR to go play against alabama.

he'd have to get open for an in bound pass. It's fairly easy.

Zeal im not trolling. It's moot anyway cause if we werent in the double bonus, you can't make substitutions like that.

the kid is a walk on at LSU. What do you think he does at practice? Are you telling me he is just completely overwhelmed? Do you think he can't get open for inbound passes at practice ?

Seems worthless to even roster if he cant even get open on an inbound pass.

That's what he does. He has the courage to take that shot - the last shot to avoid the loss. Some players will avoid that responsibility, too nervous.

BTW, it may not have been apparent on TV, but we had about 75 fans there in the LSU section. We made some NOISE!! We were willing our team from about 35 min in regulation and all of OT. to play defense. Stamping, clapping, chanting and shouting. Standing up for all of OT.
Then we were screaming on offense.
It might sound dumb to say, but I really think it helped the guys focus & hustle. Crowd support is really important.
Butler had about 10x number of fans , so we really had to work yard to be heard. We went insane when Hick made the 3. It was awesome to see the Butler fans silenced

The team really appreciated our efforts, and after the handshake came over to acknowledge us. It was a great moment.

I really we hope we can do the PMAC soon. It makes so much difference

and Shortess shot 94% in HS. why not?

two things about shortess in a situation like this

1) for a guy to shoot a free throw he obviously has to get his hands on the ball, a guy who is not the most athletic guy on your team and is very inexperienced could lose if he got it.
2) even though the guy was a great free throw shooter in HS to put him on the line with the game on the line in a very big game early in the season. He may not be able to handle the pressure.

your first goal in that situation is to get the ball in, I think the idea not to call a time out before the inbounds was a great call, because if your one play doesn't work you are stuck and may lose the game that way. I don't remember who got it but we would have lost a couple of seconds before the free throw situation. The play worked in our favor by getting the ball down the court before they could foul us. But I think the situation was played pretty well all things considered.

that style of play you hate so much got them a missed half court shot away from winning the national championship.

And? That doesn't make it any more entertaining to watch.

I'm not a butler fan, I couldn't give less of a shite how far they go in the tournament.

Nope, from Gonzales. We travel to away games when we can, especially if we can tie it in to a business trip or a family thing.

you act like its the only successful style of play.

I'm not even really sure why you're arguing about the effectiveness. I'm not a coach, and I don't pull for them.

When I'm watching basketball games, I prefer they be entertaining, because I'm a fan and sports are a form of entertainment.
