Lou had joy, he had fun, he had seasons in the sun. Goodbye now.

I don't know why all the baddazzes along these threads need to bash an older icon of college football like Lou Holtz - whether he likes LSU or not.
Y'know not all LSU fans were born in the 1990s or even in the 1980s. Some of us do have a lot of seniority around college ball and enjoy hearing goofy but legendary coaches and color commentators throw their stuff out at the viewership, let the chips fall where they may. My one possible exception to this very subjective rule is Verne Lundquist on CBS. That he's retiring is not sad news; for me, listening to him botch his calls game after game was like hearing a fingernail scratching on a chalk board.
But back to Lou Holtz - I'm an old-timer myself (but not nearly as old-timery as Lou) and IMO, some of the younger guys doing TV announcing have a lot of polish but no more football knowledge than "Granny" Holtz and his ilk. Often a lot less. The old adage "a mile wide and an inch deep" has applications there, for some of them.
I'll miss the old coach... I think.

So true...A lot of younger LSU fans did NOT go through what we did in the 90's. They are spoiled and EXPECT ALL sports guys just be pro LSU every game over every opponent. Its quite sad really. Lou has always been good for college football and I would have loved him to coach at LSU instead of Curley... Most will bash me for saying that but they are A BIG part of the problem with the LSU fanbase...

he hasn't coached since 2004. do you say that he "WAS" a hell of a coach every year? or do you just throw it in there to hear yourself talk?
You making no sense here..... But I expect that from a young punk as yourself........

Old timers make good points sometimes.

You have cut to the core of me.
And as an old non-punk, I am surprised that you were able to hammer out all those periods, as you always do, but not "are" or even "you're" prior to "making." It makes you sound like you're translating Chinese into English.
