I don't think it makes someone "anti jones". The guy hasn't been performing as we'll as he can. I believe it's "pro lsu" who want the best for the team. We do have other players on the team besides the starters that we are allowed to support. If one guy isn't getting it done, give him some time off and give another guy a shot. That's what makes players better, not built in positions.

I would start Yocom every game, then put JJ in if we have the lead after 6-7 innings.

Ah, the guy on the bench is always better. ALWAYS.

Well in this case, Yocom is the better offensive threat regardless of who's on the bench. So start him, and keep him in as long as we need runs. Once we have a lead late in the game, put JJ in for his defense. It's not rocket surgery.

What the frick is rocket surgery?

It's called a slump. That doesn't mean Yocum is better offensively.

According to Brad Pitt, it doesn't matter that Scotty H can't field if he gets on base at a high clip.

How long does a slump have to last before it's more than a slump, iyo?

Slumps can last a long time. They are called down years. It happens. He hit well over .300 as a freshman and north of .250 last year. Those are pretty decent numbers. He is making good contact and having quality at bats. He will get his average up at some point. Jacoby is the much better baseball talent than Casey Yocum

At what point is this not fair to a guy like Foster even? He was benched last year for hitting .220. Thats a good bit higher than JJ at this point.

Look I would love to let him work through this but they aren't in a vacuum. There are other guys who can hit in the low to mid .200s and for all the bluster about defense, it's not like we are gonna send them out there without a glove.
I like Jacoby but CPM isn't his Dad. Fair is fair. It's a sport. Produce or sit.

I'm so sick of people saying "he makes good contact" and "he has a lot of potential". I wish that when I sucked at work people would say, "doesn't matter, kid has a lot of potential".

Jacoby hit .253 last year as I already pointed out. I don't find that to be a terrible number. Maybe you do. I would rather have Jacoby Jones hitting .250 in my lineup than Casey Yocum. Yes, I realize he is currently hitting .188, but I'm correcting you in that I don't consider last year a slump. I don't find .250 to be horrendous. And last I checked, this season is only half way over.

Don't compare your job to baseball. In baseball a hitter that hits .325 is HOF worthy. If you succeeded at your job 32.5% of the time you would be fired.

I'm of the opinion that JaCoby Jones is not in a slump, rather he came in to LSU with the tendency to sit fastball every time and has yet to change that approach. It worked well for him in his freshman year, but once opposing teams figured that out, they throw him literal shite pitches and he simply can't hold the bat back (granted, he is showing better plate discipline this year).

However, his back up is Casey Yocom who was handed the starting 2nd base job last year and failed miserably at it both at the plate and in the field. It's going to take a hell of a lot more than a 3-4 game against Alcorn St. to forget how terrible he was last year.

All things considered, I still think Jones in the lineup gives us a better chance to win than Yocom.

Second base is not one of the easiest positions to play. In fact, it's one of the most crucial positions along with shortstop and centerfield. Not only do you have to field very well, but you also have to be able to turn the double play with efficiency. He's not only one of the best in the SEC, but also in the country. Jones is a very valuable asset to this ballclub, even if he'd hit .150!

I'm not seeing why most people are acting as if Yocum is some huge liability at 2B. He was his Junior College Conference's league defensive MVP. Give him a chance this year since Jones isn't doing much
