Or the riot police on main street in Blacksburg the night before the game.

Needless to say, outside of one of those kickoff classics I don't see Va Tech coming to Baton Rouge again and I know LSU will not go back to Blacksburg

Why?

A LOT of passes were dropped. That game sent me and my buddies into quite a tailspin/bender. On the coast, loaded, casinos, massage parlors, Butt dialing my wife from massage parlor While my buddy was negotiating/arguing with the Orientals. Good times.

thanks, got my answer, did not know they had game before us that year and the 03 thing...still no excuse to lose so bad...

Va Tech was scheduled to make a return trip to BR in 04... not 03 like a lot of people are saying.

P.S. I was in Blacksburg. And it sucked.

Me, too. And it was pretty miserable. The Hokie chants of "Overrated!" after the game were particularly grating.

This is one of those games the unquestioning Saban lovers ought to be reminded of. It's also an episode I routinely remind all the Beamer/Weasel/VT lovers here in VA of every chance I get (bunch of stinkin' cheaters!).

In any case, I was ITCHING for VT's comeuppance for 5 years, which makes the 2007 game one of my absolute favorites. It was oh-so satisfying to watch the Tigers roast and devour the Turkeys.

Cheaters never prosper....

This. We replaced them with Oregon state on the schedule.

There was a great deal of energy about the 2007 game, but the hostile edge got taken off of because of the shootings....

I really feel that the VT fan base would have seen the LSU fan base in it's porta potty tipping glory if there were no shootings on the VT campus.....

We knew their RB's at the time were tops in the country. To partially quote Dennis Green "they are who we thought they were."

Has Virginia Tech ever won anything worth a shite ? I am extemely sincere when I say that I truly prayed for the victims and relatives of the mass shooting at VT campus. But for the life of me, Va Tech gets a lot of praise for not winning anything.

yeah, I also remember all the VT people after the game claiming one of the reasons they won because LSU was intimidated by their roaring crowd.

If I recall correctly, that game was supposed to be the season opener for both teams. At some point during the offseason, VT surreptitiously scheduled a game before LSU, essentially as a preseason contest to prepare for LSU.

This is all I can remember Saban being pissed about.

It's Blacksburg. And I was there too. One and only time you will ever see me there. Left immediately after the game to head back to Richmond.

As for the people talking about the return game, it was supposed to in 04, but after we won the National Title, so they wanted to play USC at Fed Ex Field. IIRC they wanted to cancel the game all together, but LSU forced them to make the return trip which ended up being in 07

They have 1 maybe 2 victories all time over a top 10 team. And they even have a lone BCS victory over the powerhouse Cincinnati.
As for National Titles. Not one of their sports has ever won a title. Hell most of their fans don't even know they have sports other than football. Most are UNC and Duke during basketball season

I was in Blacksburg that day as well and what I'll always remember, aside from how bad we played, is the reverse field run Kevin Jones had. That guy was a beast at VT. So much talent that kid had before injuries and Detroit happened to him

He was a beast there. Wasn't that only his sophomore year too?
I must of blocked out most of that day, cuz I don't remember his reverse field run, or the fans chanting over-rated.
I do remember some guy with his son holding up a sign along the road into campus that said "Geaux Home Tigers", and that damn PR TD that got called back
