looking at Victories: 6-6 Vandy, 6-6 Florida (NO offense), 7-5 Auburn (no QB or defense), Penn State (NO QB), Kent State, Georgia Southern, Ole Miss, Miss. State, North Texas, Tennessee. Take out Ark and . No wonder they have blown out their opposition and have the number 1 defense

Don't forget their moral victory against LSU.

Not saying we don't have a better team, but the scores against common opponents are very close. Just saying. They are damn good.

Look at their 1st Qtr/ 1st Half performances. Not exactly impressive.

They weren't able to out depth LSU in the 2nd half. Their injuries and fatigue caught up with them.

To brag they have the top defense when we play high scoring offenses like OR & WV while they played penn st out of conference is what gets me though.

Same with us, in some cases.

The team with the most depth in the country is also the one whose home stadium has never been rained on. It is why we beat the sister bangers the first time, and it is why we will defeat them with far more resound the second time.

Moral victory? They won that game, don't you know? On Tidefans they literally said the game on the 5th "proved nothing except LSU has better kickers"!

But they missed 4 field goals of 44, 49, 50 , and 52 that should have been made against LSU....it's all the kickers fault.

I'm not sure how thinking that their D is over-rated helps us when they did hold us to 236 yards in our first game. Or how they played a week schedule. They basically played the same schedule as we did minus Oregon and had almost the exact same scores. Why do we have to give the impression that this Bama team isn't good in order to feel like we have a good team? Their defense is awesome, they are the second best team in the country, and we will beat them Jan. 9

It ends there we blew out two non conference BCS teams(WV & OR) while they beat penn st who couldnt pass the ball if it wanted to and we still have the 3rd best defense in the nation. I actually believe our defense is better than theirs as well as our whole team

So we just arbitrarily remove their best win of the year from consideration?

If we hadn't had that wasted one play drive in the early second half that set them up in FG range, the difference in depth might have been noticable earlier in the game....

They can't help what their schedule is any more than LSU. So they only played one really good offense and LSU has now played 4. I still think 'Bama would defeat those other three teams handily, though possibly not by as much as LSU in the Dawgs case since the Tigers got two non-offensive scores in that game.

Yes, that did skew the numbers. Against common opponents, the defensive stats were almost identical (but slightly in our favor) in points allowed, in Bama's favor in yards allowed and in our favor in turnovers forced.

Bama-LSU points allowed vs.

Florida 10-11
Tennessee 6-7
Ole Miss 7-3
Miss. St. 7-6
Arkie 14-17
Auburn 14-10

total 58-54 (avg. 9.7-9.0)

Bama-LSU yards allowed vs.

Florida 222-213
Tennessee 155-239
Ole Miss 141-195
Miss. St. 131-193
Arkie 226-254
Auburn 140-248

avg. 169.2-223.7

Bama-LSU turnovers forced vs.

Florida 2-2
Tennessee 2-2
Ole Miss 2-3
Miss. St. 0-2
Arkie 2-3
Auburn 2-2

total 10-14 (avg. 1.7-2.3)

Didn't you get the memo??

Who you defeat is not anywhere near as important as is who you lose to.

Okie State definitely received that memo.
