I read last week that the NCAA charters planes to transport the teams to wherever they need to play...I presume they do the same thing for the superregionals...

where will Coastal Carolina stay? will they use Lod Cook or a hotel off campus?

and who does the upfront payment for Omaha, is that all done by the NCAA or does the school pay and NCAA reimburses them a fixed amount?

thanks

They usually stay off campus. Rice was at the Hilton downtown last weekend and SLU was at the Embassy on College.

I heard that Utah and Utah Valley shared a charter flight to BR/Oxfart last week. Not sure how they handled the return trip.

NCAA has plenty $$$$. Five or six hotels are assigned to host the CWS teams in Omaha. LSU was probably in the crappiest last year at Hyatt Place. I stayed at Hilton Garden Inn and Florida was there. Vandy was at Embassy. A couple of teams were at Hilton right up the street from ballpark. Hotels are assigned by NCAA. LSU used to pick where they wanted to stay, but rumor has it that MS State caused a fuss and ended that years ago.

The reason for that is all the downtown hotels vied to be the LSU team hotel because they knew LSU fans would fill it up.

At least that's what one of the hotel general managers told me years ago.

I've always wondered about this as well. If I recall, anything under 500 miles does not need to be reimbursed or doesn't have to be by air, I'm not sure which.

Utah/Utah Valley did split the flight in and out, Utah got picked up in Tupelo and then Utah Valley at BTR for the trip back to SLC.

It looks like Coastal's charter flight is an Eastern 737-800 arriving around 4pm (flightaware). Same aircraft that took ECU to Lubbock yesterday

Given the use of the same airline to bring ECU to Lubbock and Coastal in from Myrtle Beach, I'd have to think the NCAA organizes it (plus they should be able to negotiate better rates with the volume).
