FWIW,
Mainieri said yesterday that Hanover would be cleanup because he truly believes he is the 2nd best hitter on this team. Said he will prob be the 3 hitter next year. I love how some of you don't think players can improve from year to year.

I love the "Centenary can pitch" argument. Yes, I'm sure their staff is as good as Texas was last year.

Don't worry about that, he has a powerful fastball, as long as he keeps his walks down he will be nasty.

Little weird to me Mainieri is going with Bourgeois so quickly over Bradshaw after Bradshaw has put in 2 years here already. Guess he will be a on a short leash.

That might say more about Bradshaw than it does about Bourgeois.

Or maybe PM likes having Bradshaw as a bullpen ace. If he can use an effective pitcher for 6-7 innings over 3 games, that's incredibly valuable. It preserves Ott as a shutdown closer, and means there is no drop off from the starter in the bridge to the 9th.

Just a thought. Bradshaw not starting may not be an indictment of his talent, but an endorsement. Remember, this was the role Coleman was supposed to have last season.

+1 to everything you said, it is always important to have "an ace" in the bullpen in case of anything.
