It is obviously foul in the first clip, and obviously fair in the second. I just don't see how you overturn that AND award him a double if you called it foul on the field. The umpire is in perfect position. Plus, in the second clip, if that ball was fair, how did it end up landing so far foul in so little time and with so little right to left movement?

And for those of you who don't know, the position of Breaux's body is irrelevant.

I saw it live, looked so foul, then saw replay, looked fair. I can see how it was overturned. We are all human.

Camera angle needs to be directly down the foul line. The announcers said last night that the umps would have the same exact camera angles that we were shown on TV

Really should have been caught. No replay needed.

I really don't think beau would have touched that ball.

I mean if you look at the second part of the gif and basically draw a line down from where he touches the ball you can see that his right foot lands damn near in the same vertical line. If anything, his right foot looks short of that vertical line, which would put the ball about a foot foul.

The ball obviously needs to be caught, but how the hell do you overturn it with this kind of shite.

my question - how can you award two bases?
does that allow three bases for another runner, who is really fast

Football has the camera exactly down the endzone line. Baseball needs the same with foul line...

If you could stop the tape, look where his feet are when he touches the ball you could get a better idea of where the ball is.

If Marineri Sauce didn't pull Beau that's an out!!! And, why the hell not pull him to pinch run in previous inning if he plans on putting in Breaux???

yes let's blame PM for putting in a better defensive player in the outfield in the 9th inning in a 1 run game. the fact that he didnt make the play is definitely paul maineiri's fault. definitely.

I'm not saying it was obviously foul in the first clip, but you're right when the blue on the 3rd base line had the best shot of it. I didn't think it was clear enough to overturn, but once they did I wasn't upset. LSU got a break when Fraley was called safe. It evened out.

Umps don't understand angles and the visual deception it creates. No way to tell when camera isn't down the line.

it was clearly fair in both clips, you can tell from where his body and glove are that he is in fair territory. Despite them awarding him 2nd base, we likely caught a break cause Reed probably would have been on 3rd had the call been right from the onset.

I disagree, the ump was staring down the line the camera was not. Should have left it be.

oh yea, and just catch the damn ball. Breaux had no reason to go into a slide there, which is what took his focus off of the baseball. Stop freaking diving when you dont have to!
