College baseball is great. LSU is good and the program an asset to the university. No downside to having an elite team. But it's hard to appreciate when you are a big fish in a small pond that the national appeal of college baseball barely registers. Having a successful basketball program has much more upside than having a successful baseball program. That being said, why is does this become a discussion that it's either/or? Invest in both. Financially and otherwise. With the right coach and a handful of freshmen, you could make a drastic change in one year. Or you could say baseball is doing ok so F it. An opinion that makes no sense.

Honestly, I mean this with all due respect, you're an idiot. On a national landscape, baseball is irrelevant. Even when basketball is flaming out they still make more money. Think about that.

Baseball may as well not even exist outside a few small pockets of the country.

It's like bragging about gymnastics. Sure, I'm happy for the success but it is so lame to tout it. No one really cares except a small fan base percentage.

There is no way they pay a basketball coach more than they pay the FB coach.

The sooner LSU fans accept this the better. Let's just pour everything into football and baseball and shoot this lame horse behind the barn.
Easy to spot the youngsters that weren't in existence to witness LSU basketball in the 80's.

The Assembly Center was just as electric as Tiger Stadium. Basketball games were just as big an event as football.

Hard to believe or describe if you weren't there in person.

The SEC is currently ripe for the picking. If Alleva/LSU will make a great hire, it can be like that again. LSU fans will support a winner and will pack the PMAC again. (Just look at what Gymnastics has done!)

Was nova a perrennial power before wright went there? The 80s? Shaq, jackson, pistol, petit, simmons? Lsu could be a legit basketball team with the right coach. To say otherwise is retarded.

My wife gave natural birth to twins. That's perineal power.

They did have a national title before Wright got there. In the 10 years prior to Wright's arrival, Nova went to the tourney 6 times. LSU has been to the tournament 6x since 1993. This program could only dream of going to the tourney 6 times in a decade. I'm not sure its fair to look back to Dale's run in the 80s and early 90s. CBB is totally different now than it was back then.

No doubt that Jay Wright has taken them to another level but its clear that program was in a much better place than LSU is now. Its also worth noting that Wright won a title in his 16th year with the program. Seeing some of the posts on this board about basketball expectations, you clowns probably would have run him off long before he made it to his 16th season.

LSU can do much better than Jones. That is clear.
