For more than just the interim, it would have shown his level of incompetence although USC is one of the programs who draw on name alone and that may have helped him with recruiting and asst cosches. He's not an Administrator and probably not even a good coordinator. I can't think of one top 25 program that would have brought him onboard as anything more than a position coach. Besides Archer, who has LSU hired who wasn't a head coach with a successful track record? We should not be a "proving ground" but after the next few years we may be forced to accept that. I can't help but wonder who O would get if our coordinators leave this season.

8 wins is our ceiling with him. The sooner everyone can admit that, the easier it will be.

Lets be honest you have no idea what would have happened.

If we don't have a good year I think our coordinators will be looking for a way out. I hope it turns out good!

Yeah, as bad as he was, Alleva couldn't hold Pat Hayden's jock as an AD.

I will not point fingers, but fans like you, you're the problem.

Yeah because fans dictate what happens on the field. It's only about wins at this level of play.

We may be able to win out.

An early loss is better than anything, especially if you win out.

If you're right, there's no reason to obtain him beyond the season unless no one else will take the job.

frick JBE and FKA, if TAF/boosters will pay buyout you have to fire him.

8 wins was Les Miles' floor, if anyone thinks an 8-win ceiling coach should have ever been hired for this job.

Alleva should have outbid for one of the up-and-comers.

You guys are fn trash. You are all experts. How much college football have you coached at the D1 high profile level? I am sure none. You sit on your couch, fat as F, saying what someone else should have done. You make assumptions and pretend to to know what you are talking about. You don't know shite.

But he didn't. This is a myth. He even dropped a turd against a bad UCLA team.

USC lost 4 games the next season, then 6 the season after. USC always has top classes and is always top 5 in NFL players

How about the Kiffin and sarkisian hires?

Haden was a shite AD. He did nothing notable.

Even got reprimanded by the Pac-12.

Maybe O succeeds maybe he doesn't. I don't know that he wouldn't have at USC

They didn't retain him and they didn't end up with anything to show for it, just like we may not have either

It's been 4 games. No way to tell yet

Miles had a program that was rolling in 05-07 then 08 we were bad, team clearly needed to rebuild even though we were a top program and he did over time.
09 to early 10 was a struggle then late 10 to 13 we had shown to be rebuilt.

2008 to 2013

8-5
9-4
11-2
13-1
10-3
10-3

Good recruiting classes that pan out go along way in terms of success on the field. '16 and '17 classes appear to be that. They will be the core of the '18 and '19 teams.
