The fact that he didn't say anything is because they were working on a new deal. Thats obvious, no one ever comes out to immediately deny serious offers.
...Yes. That's how market value works.

on what grounds? that simple fact ARK offered him more money?

Dumbest argument ever. Is Saban anything without LSU or Bama? NO

The OP is a dumbass. I stopped reading after the first line. If Les didn't recruite well, LSU wouldn't have had the best players. So STFU.

if anything LES has been saban's maintenance man. do you think if miles came before saban we'd have what we have TODAY?

My guess is that you would be smart enough to want to be paid what the market indicates is your value too. Les should be paid commensurate with his peers, which is among the most successful coaches in the country. How many other coaches have 80%+ winning records over 8 years in the history of the SEC? LSU has had only one since 1893. His name: Les Miles. Quibble all you want, but when all is said and done, he is has the best record of any coach in LSU history and one of the very best in the history of the SEC. No, he isn't perfect, but he is still the most successful coach in LSU history.

No doubt, 10-2 is good...above average which matched his pay...above average. But to get a raise when none of the team goals were met and we are sitiing at home during SEC and BSC Championship games is not earned or deserved.

If i'm an LSU rival, I just throw out a ridiculous contract "offer" to Miles every year just to force LSU into giving Miles unwarranted raises every offseason.
Which rival does Miles not have a winning record against?

Have you looked at the recruiting rankings?

He has a want to be at LSU and has succeeded inspite of most of this pathetic and vaginal fan base. Loyalty and integrity are lacking qualities in people and LSU has a coach with both yet could care less because he doesn't win games in a manner conducive to arm chair coaches.

Not when leaving LSU for ARK is unrealistic.
Thats not the way to handle asking for a raise or extension

Seriously what does this have to do with whether or not LSU should match an unsolicited offer from another school? He has been one of the most successful coaches in CFB since joining LSU.

Contrary to often popular belief, nope, not nearly "everyone would DIE to coach at LSU" and the SEC. Where's ole Urbi got himself off to these days?
It takes a certain type of coach to come in and "grow" into a SEC HC AND to STAY a SEC HC (assuming one is good enough to win at least 10-11 games a year most years in the competitive SEC to begin with - try coming in somewhere like LSU or 'bama and pulling something like a 7-5 record your first year and see if you get any slack).
Then there's handling the media, top notch top ten recruiting rankings year in and year out with the natives squealing for top five at the least, if not top 3 or better from the get-go, staff hiring and all that jazz in a boiler room coupled with living on the "hot seat since the day we got here" as Les once pointed out in a press conference. Yep, sure it's easy to pick a winna three times in a row. Yeah, right ...
Oh and before you reply (if you intend to), kindly pay at least as much attention to what I did NOT say as you do to what I DID say.
P.S. I'll give you at least this much enlightenment - Les is a helluva lot smarter than you and others give him credit for. He's quite well-spoken when he isn't putting on the proverbial "dog" for the media, etc. But, carry on with that "image" if you like, he's smart enough have you buying in and if you do keep buying into that, you're the "bulb in the drawer" who is a lot dimmer than Les has ever been.
