He would turn our QBs into Heisman Trophy candidates.

More importantly, we could send him out to block extra points.

^^why every college does not use one scholarship for this makes no sense. It is a game changer.

Put a 6'10 guy that can jump out on the field and he would block at least 4-5 extra points or field goals a season.

Not really. Saw a semi-interesting article and thought I'd share, seeing as this board has become almost exclusively retarded threads about our quarterbacks.

I get that. My apologies from trying to distract from the boring shite normally on this board.

Ive been saying this for years. Washington State had a huge 6'8-6'9 guy on their team in the late 90s that blocked at least 5 kicks in one season.

I don't think it would be quite that simple

Because you can't jump over the OL to reach the kicker or use your DT as leverage to jump higher.

Basically someone would have to make a hole near the snapper to allow him to burst through the line unless he was coming off the edge.

I see little to almost no risk in using one of the 85 spots for it. You could even prefer walkon someone and then convert him to a scholarship player after he shows success. Again, it is illogical not to try this.

No, he just jumps straight up in the air to block the kick. He lines up as a MLB and jumps vertically as the ball is being kicked.

ETA: He doesn't have to jump over the line or burst through a hole.

Where did he line up on the field? This might matter here.

Directly in front of the center snapping the ball.

If his forward momentum causes him to land on an OL it a neatly and automatic first down not worth it unless it's to block a game winning FG or game tying extra point

He is an elite athlete... He can jump straight up without toppling over both his own line and the offensive line.

Better yet, he could just jump straight over the linemen, grab the football and dribble it into the opposing end zone, then dunk it through the goalposts.
