I don't give a shite if my head coach is a good public speaker. Do you think all of the great coaches of the past would sound great in front of a mic? Have you ever heard John madden talk? There are legitamite complaints agianst miles, this just isn't one of them.

So you're saying Miles has a career in broadcasting once his coaching days are over?

I agree apparently he has no problem speaking to kids and their parents on the recruiting trail.

If his record was 12-0, this would be talked about in an endearing manner, it goes with the 4 million

I agree, I don't care either. I really don't like people calling him an idiot bc he is not a great public speaker.

He had a tumor on the part of his brain that controls speech.

Everyone who dogs him for that is an a-hole.

Miles had a brain lesion (not a tumor) removed in 2000.

I had an uncle who had a similar operation in the 90's. It affected his speech skills (he went from being one of the best joke-tellers to one who couldn't get a knock-knock joke right).

That operation also affected his personality, from very outgoing to reserved.

That might explain Miles' poor speaking skills.

Any doctors on here?

I agree that if the HC can communicate in the locker room and in the household with a mom and a dad over coffee and pecan pie, then it shouldn't matter. But it does matter because the HC is also the CEO of the program, and the CEO markets the program on a national scale. And when your CEO sounds like a total fricking moron that can't articulate a simple response to a question like, "How was the approach this week different than last week?" -- then it makes the program look like it is being run by an imbecile. Face it -- for some recruits, the first impression Les makes is through these public interviews, and he's already behind the 8 ball when he goes into the recruits' homes -- IF he's allowed.

So, why did LSU hire a man who underwent a brain operation?

Why would a 55+ year old liberal like yourself try to discriminate against someone?

He wouldn't discriminate knowingly, unless he hated them.

in order to lead, you MUST be able to effectively communicate. les does not speak well in front of the media or his team, i have been witness to both.

I like having a head coach that is a good speaker. I used to love listening to Nick carve the media up when they'd ask dumb questions.

lou does have a lisp, but he is a great public speaker. he can speak for an hour straight without stuttering one time and his content is actually pretty impressive. he is actually a very smart guy.
