Les is a great man and a great coach.

We are living in the Golden Era of LSU football, yet fans trip out over small stuff.

All the best to your son and family! St. Jude is a great place and hope it works out for Haydn! Coach Miles is an exceptional human being and has been doing these types if things ever since he has been in BR! He is an inspiring and positive man!

It costs $2 million per DAY to operate that facility. It's beyond awesome. Visited last year.

Wish I could post my fundraising link for my St. Jude half marathon ... alas, no fundraising on this site.

Wow, $2M a day. Anyone with healthy children should donate to St. Jude. I always have since having kids.

Can you imagine? My fundraising goal would provide like 5 minutes of that day. It's not a sad, depressing place at all ... and they told stories of parents from other countries coming with their children to be admitted and the mom is holding out a credit card and misunderstands "we don't take that" as "we don't take THAT card" and mom pulls out another card. She was overcome with emotion when they finally said "we don't want your money".

So blessed as a parent of 3 that we haven't needed St. Jude's BUT so grateful that it's there for those who need.

(Last year we met a kid in the hall with a Saints hat on .. we all said "who dat" and when I got home and returned to work long story short, the kid we met was my coworker's cousin. Super small world.)

Good luck to Haydn in his recovery. We spent 19 months in treatment at St. Jude for my son. Words really can't describe what a wonderful place it is or the amazing people that work there. Les did many similar things for Parker, as did the entire LSU football team and administration. We are very fortunate to have this coach and the players that do so many things that nobody ever knows about. They get it is more than just a game and they have opportunities to put smiles on the faces of children fighting battles and enduring unimaginable levels of pain. Fight like Tigers they do. We'll be at the St. Jude Marathon in December as well. Team Parker has already raised over 50K and hope to raise much more. God bless you. We pray for families like yours every night even without knowing you.

Prayers to your son and your family.

Les is a helluva man, as is your son.

And for those that downvoted the OP, that is pathetic.

Me too, and my eyes never get anything in them. I don't know how this happened. Something about hearing Les emphasize TIGER and really meaning it. Damn.

I'm sorry to hear your son had to have this surgery and I hope he has a speedy and healthy recovery.

Les Miles is a hell of a guy. That is class and a heart of gold. And kudos to your son for being a badass and saying Geaux Tigers to the surgeon.

Got a little dusty in here reading the OP.

Thanks for all the support. My son thought it was really cool to see everyone commenting on his story and for the prayers and encouragement. Tigers all the way. And from what we have seen at St Judes, we are now permanently donating to them. That is a great organization that helps so many families.

Haydn is an excellent, erudite name. I dig it. I assume you are a pianist, or a fan of classical piano. Haydn was a giant.

Speedy recovery to Porkchop and respect to CLM.

Every one tells us we forgot the "e" in Haydn.

That's because you did. No offense, and I enjoyed your story, but why would you do this to your son? For the rest of his life he's going to have to explain over and over and over how to spell his name and correct people for next 70 years.
