That statement does not stand the test of credulity.
How long was Curley Hallman in coaching?
How long was Dinardo in coaching? They may not have been in for thirty-five years but... long enough to make my point.
If Joe Dean had his way, Dinardo would still be at LSU.

This is the way I try to look at it:

Les had to know the importance of this hire, so he must have seen something in Steele that convinced him to go this route. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and wait until we see the product on the field.

Another thing that gives me a faint glimmer of hope is the fact that Saban hired him multiple times, three I think, so he must have seen something in Steele that sparked his interest.
Now, with the apparent hiring of "O", maybe this will all work out for the best.
