He has managed to compile a successful record while being the head coach at LSU, but he has done it in an unconventional, quirky, awkward, and at times very fortunate way. He has not been able to consistently recruit the QB position successfully. After following recruiting for the better part of 10 years, I have noticed that the elite programs in college football grab a QB or 2 almost every year.

This is important because QB, I believe, is one of the hardest positions to evaluate and project one the next level. It is also, more importantly, the most critical. A good QB can carry a college football team. A bad one can hinder it severely, as is obvious. I like Harris and his potential, and this is not about our current QB situation but more so about the entirety of Miles tenure.

In comparison, Nick Saban pulls in top QB talent routinely. Ideally u want competition at the position, because competition breeds success. Les Miles "Achilles heel" has been the inability to get consistent production from his passing offense, and most of this is due in fact to QB recruiting. He landed a few good ones in Mettenberger, I think eventually Harris, and if u want throw in Jarret Lee as a senior for good measure. However, the point is this position has killed us. Sadly, it's not just recruiting, but it's also his offensive system. When it works let's face it a dominating rushing attack is fun to watch, but when a team has the personnel or "the beef" to stop it then it leaves us in very bad situation due to reasons mentioned above.

This is what Miles has continually produced throughout his tenure. The 2 loss title team was loaded with talent. He has been fortunate to get great defensive support in recent years due to talent and assistant coaching.

But his weaknesses have become to much to overcome. It seems that in many years LSU is giving a last minute scholarship to an instate DB who is a good player but never makes an impact on the collegiate level. This is because we always strike out on the QB. U can't recruit one QB, and place the future of your position on his shoulders for 2-3 years without knowing if he can produce. He brought in Lee and Jefferson, but that is the only duo that comes to mind in one season. Some years he settled for someone like the big QB that went to Ole Miss and played fullback lol. He also miss evaluated Prescott in our own backyard. Now laying all of this aside. The man has made numerous mistakes as a "game manager". His clock management issues were laughable for a person that spends his whole life planning football games and scenarios and gets paid millions to do it. The point is- LSU can do WAYYY BETTER!!!! Now, we find ourselves extremely thin at LB heading into next year with guys that are a little undersized. Don't expect LSU to look much better next year. Offense can improve but defense will have a hard time stopping the run against a decent team.

Les Miles at LSU represents a 9-3 record. That is WHO HE IS! Great guy but we need a new coach!!! I'm glad he managed to carry the program after Saban left but he really has just been babysitting LSU. Bottom line, it's just time to go!! His weaknesses have hindered his strengths, and we have seen the result. He will not bring another title to LSU unless Drew Bree's enrolls tomorrow. Hope we can find a good one when the time comes. Whether it be this year or next, I'm looking forward to the next man at LSU! Geaux Tigers!!

While I agree, the sunshine pumpers will be here in droves to run you out of town. Plus Bacon is right about your sentences...

Sunshine pumper or not. The handwriting has been on the wall for years. It's not one mistake. It's a career full of them

In 10 years of Les Miles, if you set the over/under at 8.5 wins in the regular seasons, you'd hit the over 8 times.

Just so ya know.

I think QB recruiting is the most fair criticism of Les. He tried but it is hard. Especially when LA has produced maybe 3 4star or better QBs during his tenure and he got all three.

Gunner Kiel and Zachary Lee leaving hurt. RP getting kicked off the team hurt. Just a bad position. Bad luck bad scouting.

2012 - 6-2
2013 - 5-3
2014 - 4-4
2015 - 4-2

6+5+4+4 = 19
2+3+4+2 = 11

You know, at an earlier point in Les's career, you could have said this same thing, and people did. Then Les shut them up by going undefeated in conference play the next year.
