I think Brown and Miles are alot alike. Dale Brown was a great person, great recruiter and master motivator.... he had superstar talent but wasn't a very good floor coach. I don't think Miles is a master motivator but other than that.. they are pretty similar. Granted, football is bigger than basketball but I don't remember fans reacting as badly to Brown as they are towards Miles. Brown also wasn't making 4 mil a year either. I just find the two personalities to be the same.

No because Dale Brown can make a good living speaking...Les would struggle speaking clearly enough to even call out bingo numbers at the nursing home

They both share a "win big games despite themselves, but also lose big games because of themselves" type of coaching trait.

I was thinking the same thing post game in this sense.

Dale was never a systems coach in the traditional sense. He would often make dramatic changes in style of play from game-to-game and his substitution patterns often changed dramatically from game-to-game with, at least to me questionable reason.

Our lack of identity on offense this year reminds me of that.

So confused were the Vols by our chaotic fire drill at the end they were as Rabalais said in his article, dragged down with us into chaos.

Difference between the two - Dale pretty much created a program out of nothing. I think that's a relevant distinction.

I guess that is why I support Les Miles.

You must have never watched Dale Brown then.

He was the total opposite of Les Miles on the sideline.

This is a very understandable comparison.

However, the absence of coaching is more forgivable in basketball than in football.

And at least with Brown, when he had CJ and Shaq, they got the ball. They didn't have to wait years for it to trickle down to them.

Many would be willing to argue that Brady was more competent on the sidelines than Miles.

Brady also turned the program out of nothing and on probation when he got here. Brown left the program as close to the death penalty as there is in basketball, we won the SEC in Brady's third year. Brady looks pretty good compared to the product we are going to put on the court this year. Les Miles walked into a perfect situation he is not capable of building a program, Dale did build this program and had success when he had good bench coaching, he also had one of the most talented teams in the history of the NCAA and didn't even win the conference. Game coaching wise Dale and Les were about the same. Dale also called the NCAA "the gestapo" which from the seeds we have recieved since then they never forgot it.

Nah, Dale Brown did the unthinkable he actually had LSU as close to a basketball school as it is ever going to get when Shaq was here. I was at LSU for Dale Brown's last team and it was about as bad as you will ever see, but you can't forget what he did for LSU basketball.
