That doesn't make sense. The guys that fired him were worried that they...suddenly wouldn't want to fire him later?

These are the same people who said that it was a bad idea to fire Miles last season and he deserved every chance to right the ship....

Politics and money matters (optics) saved Miles last November. The boosters did not want to allow that to happen again.
