LINK

Alex Scarborough: "I respect the heck out of Jalen Hurd. I think Nick Chubb is as determined a runner as any I've seen the past few years. And I believe that Bo Scarbrough, whom I've followed since he was an underclassmen in high school, has the chance to be special."

"But, look, this is Leonard Fournette we're talking about. This isn't some mere mortal."

Can't get enough good reading material at this time of year. For all the betters out there, do you take Fournette or the field for the Heisman? (With or without your purple and gold glasses on)

Are we talking about the Heisman race? If so, I'd take the field.

Especially since it's basically a Quarterback award.

Fournette and it isnt close. He has the rare combo of vision, top end elite speed, acceleration, Power to run you over, and can catch and block. Dude is the total package. He will be the most valuable pick in the draft after the season.

Eta:Im talking draft wise. Heisman wise Id take the field, because we have 4 stud running backs and hopefully we can keep drives going and rest fournette a bit.

Definitely the field, especially with the returning top end talent that also has name recognition. Guys like Watson, McCaffery, and Cook will be stiff competition.

I'll tell you one thing, though- I wouldn't trade Leonard for any of them

If we're in the playoff picture come December, gimme LF. If not, I'll take the field.

It's little more than the award for the best player on the best team.

I am taking the field. Since LSU can't beat Bama, and can't throw forward passes. LSU will likely run into the same issues this season that they did last season.

The field. I wouldn't even has him as the favorite. The favorite has to be Deshaun Watson

Watson and McCaffrey have a better shot.

We need to remember that Guice will be getting a ton of reps this year to keep LF fresh for late in games and later in the season.

The question is which SEC running back will have the best year. My money is on LF with Chubb and Scarbrough as the main competition.

I like McCaffrey (especially looking at Stanford's schedule), Chad Kelly & J.T. Barrett

Guice needs to see a major upswing in his role this season.

It's become more of a "The best player on a playoff birth team".

Christian Mccaffrey should have won last year. But he was a victim of the timeslot of most PAC12 games.

His surrounding cast won't be nearly as good.

ETA:

Treadwell was his get out of jail free guy with jump balls and his blind side won't have Tunsil (even if he was there half the year last year).

He's the outright best QB returning in the SEC this year. I threw his name into the ring because I really like his style of play and Freeze's offensive philosophy.

That's fair.

Also, they will lose a lot on defense and have a few distractions (hehe). My point there is that I don't think they'll be a 10 win team which is basically a pre-requisite to win the Heisman.

Fournette will leave "the field" behind this year, and will distance himself quickly if LSU is a just a decent passing threat.

This is going to be a fun year to be a Tiger fan . . . 11 weeks.

I really wanted to disagree with this, but in the last 10 years, eight QBs have won. So yeah, I'd definitely take the field.

The Field is very strong this year, stronger than it was last year.

Damn shame that powers outside of his control (McNeese, Ritter, OL breakdowns vs Bama, shite RZ playcalling vs OM, etc.) cost him his rightful hardware.

He could have an even better year this season and still not win it.

Fournette won't win the Heisman this year. fricking Alabama gets the last laugh again. I just can't see them going with an SEC runningback in back to back years. Combine that with the fact that Guice should play a larger role this year which means Fournette's numbers will drop. The media's will knock him for "not having as stellar a year as 2015". Meanwhile McCaffrey and Watson have already been crowned and invited to the ceremony.
