re: Leonard Fournette and the force-fed Heisman narrative

So he's basically calling y'all the Dallas Cowboys of offensive lines? Nothing wrong with that
LF has to be #1 right now. Cook is pretty close, but it's LF. One thing I don't understand is this argument making the rounds about the quality of run defense the two have gone against. BC is severely screwing with the stats. They aren't bad at all, but they've played 3 FCS teams, 2 of which are horrendous(think they have up 30 total rushing yards against those 2).

except if you look at things like broken tackles, YAC, etc you see that LF is still amazing with/without the o-line

quote:True, and I'm not debating that. However, Leonard is the most dominant player in CFB. He is not making routine plays; he's making motherfrickers quit out there. Dude is playing with a physical force that has not been seen in a long time.
Cook and Fournette both deserve to be Heisman candidates right now, imo
If they wouldn't start the Heisman talk about 2 weeks into the season, maybe they wouldn't get tired of hearing the same name. Leonard is the leader of the pack though.

Aside from rushing yards per game (200.33 for Fournette versus 159.13 for Cook), Cook beats Fournette in every other category, despite getting 40 fewer touches this season.
Also has 4 less TDs against a much worse schedule. But yeah. He's way better.

If you can't stop him, keep him from playing, then just say he is replaceable in the offense and that it all there needs to be done to make others look better. Their eye tests are for a blind man.

Cook the crook. He is definitely FSU heisman material.

My buddy is trying to spout the same nonsense. How Cook has done all he's done and I have to remind him of a few factors...
1. LF has played one less game - if the McNeese game had happened - no one would even be close to his yardage totals
2. LSU has a stronger body of work and schedule
3. 3 straight 200 yd games with one against Auburn. I don't care what anyone says...they aren't a cupcake.
4. He just put up 180 against the Gators - they aren't a cupcake either.
Common opponent - Florida. Let's see how he does against them and Clemson.

To be honest, I think this race would be a lot closer between the two of them if Cook were healthy. He has been injured practically all year. But, you can't punish Fournette for that. For that reason, it's Fournette's to lose.

Except total yards, and TDs.

When viewed in that context, which player means more to this team, Booker or Fournette? Shouldn’t the nation’s most outstanding player be the most irreplaceable person on his team?

That's a really fricking retarded way to pick the Heisman winner.
I agree. That's a dumb way to pick the Heisman.
Hell, a starting center is often irreplaceable if their backup stinks, but that's a crappy way to award the Heisman.
The Heisman isn't about who's the most irreplaceable, it's about who's the best. Sometimes the best player IS the most irreplaceable, but not always.

FSU already had their bye and Cook has missed a game to injury.
Cook also has less carries

Let's be honest. Without Fournette, we might have lost to Syracuse.

He hasn't missed a single game. He let Wake Forest nick him. All it did was provide him with a stat line of 2 carries for 94 yards and 47.0 ypc. It was a nice opening run.

LSU's toughest opponent was Florida.
He got 180 rush yards.
FSU's toughest opponent was BC.
Dalvin got 54 yrds

It's saying that players should be penalized for being on a better team. Fournette should be penalized because his back ups are better, and he runs behind a good offenive line.
By his reasoning the Heisman should only be given to the best player on the worst team. Look for some division ii team that only has 1 star player who is the whole offense.

Of course. Your value increases as the quality of your backup decreases and less emphasis is placed on the quality of player that YOU are.
So stupid

When they get to New York, if Cook still have a higher YPC, it'll be one of the main stats used to hype him. But if LF would have run against Mcneese, his total yards would be WAY too much for Cook to overcome IMO.

Plus Fournette missed out on an easy opponent week one
His stats would be even more ridiculous

Dude got 2 carries against Wake before he pulled his hammy and left in the first quarter. He would have probably 200 more yards if he hadn't gone out. Pretty much equivalent to a game
