He has

Jordan Mickey, Round 2, 53rd Overall to the Cavs

Jarrell Martin, Round 1, 30th Overall to the Warriors

Jordan Mickey had an agent or friend or cousin or someone get into his head and make him think he would go higher. Now he has to work three times as hard and sign for much less than if he waited one more season. It was a bad move, and I said this all season long. However, the decision is made and he has no choice now but to look ahead.

I hope he goes higher but I just hope he gets drafted at this point and we end up seeing him and Martin in next year's dunk contest. (Don't act like that couldn't happen, they are getting more desperate every year to find dunkers)

I think we are done talking about if Mickey made the right decision....

Martin has been a little higher than 30 for a while, wonder if he's falling or just deciding he is a need there...

Could see Martin in the dunk contest but Mickey probably won't even make an NBA roster. Much less be considered for the dunk contest. He lacks any sort of creativity.

I think we all selfishly wantef Mickey to return but his stock aint going up. He will do well to get drafted period.

That's from Fords Grade A draft article isn't it? His mock is different.

With his 4.1 mock draft, Ford has Martin going #28 overall to the Celtics. This is what he says...
quote:

Martin is a bit of a "tweener" but the raw talent -- basketball-wise and athletically -- is all there. And coach Brad Stevens knows how to maximize talent. If Martin can continue to improve his perimeter game and make the transition to the small forward position in the NBA, he could be a nice get here for the Celtics late in the first round -- especially given the Celtics' need for some depth at the wing.

I don't know how much he can make playing somewhere other than the NBA, but making the 500k NBA minimum salary to sit at the end of the bench would be awesome for him. If he can make 100 or 200k overseas, that wouldn't be bad either.

Had he stayed, I doubt he'd have been the go-to guy next season but it would have been fun to watch him block a gazillion shots.

We all know Martin is going to get picked based on pure potential. He is FAR from a finished product and think he's going to get exposed a bit in the predraft workouts against much more skilled players. I wouldn't be shocked if that causes him to fall to the 2nd round.

Mickey is still probably a little better suited to come in and help a team from day one (assuming he can find a position), though Martin clearly has the higher ceiling. It will interesting to watch. I think Mickey really improves his stock in the predraft workouts while Martin's will fall a bit.

Umm no...

Martins stock will improve after the combine. He's going to show up and be 6'9-6'10ish, and will be very fluid with the ball in his hands, running the court, showing his athleticism, knock down some jumpers, etc. Someone his size + ball handling ability and the athleticism to run the court as well as he does will turn some heads. And why would better competition hurt him? He was really good vs better competition for us. Against top 25 teams he averaged 22ppg, 11 rebs, and shot 57.1%. He pretty much carried us vs the better teams.

Mickey, on the other hand, will show up and be undersized for a PF, will have issues handling the ball in the open court, and will show that he can't play on the perimeter due to his limited offensive skill set. And Mickey will be the 1 that struggle vs the better competition, not Martin. He will be going up agaisnt the top big men in the draft like KAT, Okafor, Trill Cauley Stein( ), Looney, Bobby Portis, Myles Turner, etc. He's smaller and less skilled than all of them. If anything, it's Mickey that will be exposed due to better competition.

Martin is built for the combine and showcases, Mickey isn't. Mickey could improve his stock a little, sure. But there's no way the combine will hurt Martin, especially if he measures in at 6'10. His stock has been pointing up since the last half of the season, and it will be pointing up after the combine as well.

Mickey was a fun college player. He can make some money somewhere playing basketball. I'm not sure that somewhere is in the NBA. If he had returned to LSU, he would have helped the team, but I'm not sure he would have helped his aspirations. Do any of you want to see Jordan firing up 20-25 foot shots and handling the ball on the perimeter? I wouldn't. I would want him rebounding and blocking shots and staying down low to score. We all know he can do that in the SEC.
