Is that what you're hoping will happen? Lame thread, miserable SOB
Posted on 12/29/23 at 10:38 pm to Shaq4prez
I think we win 2 more. Is that hopeful?

I feel like 4 wins You play Vandy twice & Georgia twice. And you might get hot from 3 one night or catch someone who’s ice cold. Win 3of4 between Vandy and Georgia, maybe get 1 more

possibly. we could beat vandy tho. if we lose to vandy at home then the rest of the season isn't looking good

Y'all been watching MBB lately? Anyone is beatable on any given night.
My gauge is the team is bottom, mid-tier SEC.
expect 5-6 w's in conference play.

If we win 3 SEC games that is an improvement from last year. Yay!
Please bring back Wade

No, they have improved. I see at least 4 to 8 wins. But then I realize that we have a head coach who takes out players that are doing well and loses momentum and can't decide who his best players even are. Dean deserves major minutes and so does Fountain. Will they get them?

I agree. Last night it seemed he had two different teams on court not just rotating a player or two in.
My only hope is he is trying to find his starting rotation?? Baker had one of his better games but he appears too soft for sec play. I’d ride with Dean.

Vandy looked pretty good in a road game v Memphis. Stackhouse is a good coach and he almost made the tourney last season. Vandy is the 13th best team in the SEC, but they're a full quantum level better than LSU.
If LSU wins a conf game, it's because they sneaked up on some other team like they did in the PMAC vs Arky last year

Agreed and this is concerning. Hell, before Cook returned he was still running the offense through Baker. And his rotations were baffling.
We're still gonna get killed on the boards almost every game and that's a hard thing to overcome even if he somehow learns to play the right kids at the right time.
But we'll win a few games. Will we ever start playing to a point where we can at least say we're playing to our potential? Or even....gasp...overachieve? That's what I'll be looking for as even a glimmer of hope that CMM can survive.

Have you watched Vandy play at all this year or did you see the box score of their game against Memphis? The Vandy team that is ranked 212 in KenPom, lost to Presbyterian and best win of the year is a 4 point victory of UNC Greensboro? That Vandy?
LSU is struggling and they will likely not win a ton of SEC games, but they are MUCH better with Cook in lineup and the data supports it. They will shorten up rotations in SEC play and people know their roles much better now.
The key will be Cook, Wright and Baker being consistent scorers. Those 3 need to get you 45-50ppg and then let others fill in around. The size is there to compete and shooting and assists is much improved since Cook came back.

Other than playing Memphis close, there is no other data to support this take. By every other metric, NET, RPI, KenPom, etc. Vandy is a terrible team.
LSU is clearly better than Vandy this year but good enough to go into Vandy and win? I expect LSU to beat Vandy at home on the 9th. Then UGA is about as good as LSU this season. That LSU will go winless in the SEC is a clown take.

It is so pathetic the rants want for LSU to suck so they can stick it to the man. LOL. This team outplayed Texas in the 2nd half on the road and without the pitiful ref calls at the end of the game may have beat them but somehow that shows they suck. They beat a team by 40 last night and still the bitching. LSU will be competitive and will get some wins in the SEC. I do agree that Dean and Fountain should be starting but if Dean is more comfortable coming off the bench then they can work it that way.

You can make an argument that they are better. You can’t possibly think this vandy team is that much better.

No one wants LSU to suck so they can “stick it to the man”. It’s that they have little belief that McMahon can lead this team to many wins in SEC play because there is no actual evidence right now suggesting he can. A 5-21 record vs Power conf opponents is not fan fiction. It’s reality.
You keep referencing the Texas game as some sort of moral victory. A game that LSU lost by double digits and NEVER led at any point. But for a couple of late, garbage 3’s, it’s a 14-17 point (moral victory) loss which is in line with most of McMahon’s performances to date vs major conference opponents. LSU didn’t “outplay” Texas in the second half because last I checked there are two ends of the floor in basketball. So while LSU did play much better offensively, they were terrible defensively. Whether you lose because of bad offense or bad defense is irrelevant. You still lose.
Now I will grant you that it appears LSU is playing a bit better right now. But obviously the competition level is really low. Does the improved play carry over to SEC play? Hopefully. But until anyone sees that happen there is NOTHING in McMahon’s 1.5 seasons here to give you confidence it will. In other words, he is granted no benefit of the doubt. Not because he’s a bad guy, or because fans irrationally love Wade. But because McMahon’s on court performance has given you no reason to give him that benefit.
You want people to believe in you? Stop gaslighting moral victories and go actually beat people!

Do we know how many more games Cook will be available. I guess the administration is hedging their bet on the Ohio lawsuit going on through the season
